Awesome fusion360 Loft example! I still struggle, but it’s getting better with these vids. Also, a great reminder of the Move command.

Can you loft between 2 solid and use rails? Like let say I wanna loft a curved solid to a curved solid but not the entire solid just a portion of it and use rails to shape it Is it feasible?

I am trying to create a duct having a parallelogram profile at one end and a circular profile at the other. I linked the central axis of both with a straight line - acting as the rail. I wanted the finished part to be hollow with a 5 mm thick wall all along the model. All I can get from the loft tool is a completely solid body. Is it not possible to use the loft tool in this way or am I missing something. If anyone has any suggestions I would be pleased to hear from them.

Great question! It sounds like you’ve got quite the project underway. The loft tool can be a little difficult to use at times. Here’s a suggestion. No need to use rails. Loft the entire surface of the parallelogram to the circular profile so that it creates a solid body. After lofting, shell the body to the correct wall thickness. Let me know if that works!

@@learnitalready Thanks , I will give it a go today if I get chance. It is a simple adapter for a Bosch power tool to a vacuum cleaner. I thought - how hard can it be ? The answer is - a lot harder than I thought !

@@learnitalready Although fusion is telling me it has carried out the shell command it doesn't work ! I have had two different outcomes. First the two lofted shapes remain as a solid body. The second hollows out some of the outer part of the lofted entity leaving an outer shell then a cavity and then an inner solid core with a rather odd shape !

@@we-are-electric1445 sometimes the loft tool can be quite frustrating to make work. Would you consider sending your file to us to take a look at? It’s so much easier to diagnose when I can work with the file. You can find our email on our channel about page.

Thanks for your comment! As each of us gain experience with F360 (or any software really) we will always find that there is an easier way of doing something. I’m still learning too. Glad that you’re benefitting from these tutorials. Project and intersect: it is in the works, but sorry I don’t have it available right now. Stay tuned!

I followed this all the way through, but then deleted the handle sketch and made it a 3 point arc (for a curved handle). But it joins the body at a weird angle.

Try switching your “Orientation” from “Perpendicular” to “Parallel” in sweep mode. Should solve your problem with the curved handle.
