You could, if you are looking for the midpoint, copy one of the splines to an offset plane, say 50 mm up, and create a loft between the two splines. Then split the resulting body at half distance (25 mm if lofting over 50 mm). Now you can project the midpoint spline and it will update if the original two splines are modified. If you are not looking for the midpoint you could split the lofted body at any required ratio.

Thanks! This is exactly what I needed for the Bass guitar I'm building on my channel! Total Fusion novice here. 3d project and I'm already tackling this project!

Not exactly sure what a propeller mold is. I did do a plastic injection mold in the past kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZnKnqqemcpkidE

Why is your fusion 360 moving towards the left in your video? It's subtle but very weird.

I think it is something with my 3D mouse. I will have to investigate 😊

So basically the standard poly modeling workflow is called "sculpting" in Fusion.
@alexl66
@alexl66 5 жыл бұрын
I agree that is the wrong term if you compare it what is regarded as 'sculpting' in 3D nowadays. I would call sculpting in fusion subdivision surface manipulation at best. So leave the mechanical modeling to Fusion and organic modeling to Blender and the likes

@@alexl66 yes that's what I'm learning Fusion for - clean mechanical models that would take forever in the standard polygon workflow, not to mention the flexibility of it.

I modeled an upright bass top using lofts with good sucess. I appreciate watching him sculpt, but I think you can get a clean model with lofting if your 3d cross section sketches are set up correctly. Heres a blog post I made about it: www.tonedevilharpguitars.com/doublebass-new-cedar-top/ It was so cool having the model, because I could make the bass bar with the same contour as the inside of the top and CNC it out as well, made a perfect fit, and the bass sounds awesome!

The one problem with using lofts is around the body points on the fiddle. they are to acute of angles to loft, so I had to make a cross section that excluded them, then pull out from the edge of the loft, then extrude up from the original 2d and keep the intersection. I'll have to make a video on it some time...

@@tonedevilguitars I was thinking of using the first technique where you create several profiles and then break them out into sketch plates at different z heights. From there you might be able to use sculpt to connect the edges.
