Very nice series you are doing here. It really underlines the numerous methods to arrive at your destination :-)

Clever approach. Creating a plane through 3 points and splitting the body using the plane is also an option. Precisely placing the point along the path is a nice option.

To enable 3D sketch while in it, was a great use of that feature. I definitely would you'd have been drawing on another face by creating a new sketch to get that extra point...very cool my man

Awesome. Thank you. I'm going to see if this will work on a cylinder.

Awesome, thanks for this! It's the first technique that I've seen that might work for the randomly faceted (low poly) surface problem.

Hi Anthony, I remembered that you asked about low poly models a while back. While I think it is possible to use this method to manually create a low poly effect, I would imagine this to be quite tedious. A better method would be to create a regular model, turn it to a mesh and then adjust the tessellations. I would direct you to Kevin Kennedy's tutorial on this. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHaXcoZmrad7lZo

Buddy just for fun here is one more way..... Use the three points you have to define a plane then preform a split body using the new plane and delete! Thanks for sharing the great videos! You are a master Fusion user for sure!!
@Fusion360School

Yep, that will work too. Thank you for the suggestion!

I tried that, but it doesn't seem to work as well. Firstly, learning about creating a plane between 3 points was smart...thanks for that. But once I have the body split...I now have two bodies, and when I try to delete it...the main body returns back to the full shape as it's lost it's tool. I struggled yesterday to do this very operation. I like using the extrude tool, as it leaves me with one body. Having only body is critical for doing a 3D print option, as the selection operation only allows one body execution at a time. Am I doing something wrong with how I delete it?

@@vivianmorresey Buddy be sure you have keep to checked! Then go to left browser and you should see two bodies? Just hide it delete the one you don't want... Hope this helps.

@@wernerberry7800 Thanks...interestingly, once I had the two bodies, I tried hitting the delete and got the same issue ... However, there is another command below the Delete called Remove and that did exactly what I wanted. For me, it was Remove instead of Delete. We got there and learnt two new skills...awesome

One more method - one sketch to draw first line on front face, second sketch (or use first one with 3D sketch enabled) to draw second line on top face that would act as path for sweep.
@Fusion360School
@Fusion360School 2 жыл бұрын
This sounds interesting. I went back to try this and I think it is definitely a viable method. However, it looks like you would not be able to control the third edge of the cut. It would depend on the direction of the sweep.
