The force vector appears to be in the wrong direction for a quad copter, except for the case that it is just sitting there and you're simulating the mass of the motors. You'll probably need a bunch of load cases to find something more realistic for flight.

Vectors need to be in upwards and 1 in the middle downwards to be as simplify realistic at least

Hey Lars. Love the videos. How would you design a box cut in four quadrants and a top and bottom where I can 3d print only two parts. Hope that’s clear. Because the hole design is too large to fit my bed off 230 mm

I have a question, today there are more new materials coming out especially in 3D printing can you input the properties of new materials into the Fusion Library in order to evaluate these materials in the simulation function of Fusion? If yes a further question would be when working with different 3D printing methods materials can have different properties in the different print directions is this possible to simulate or would you take the lowest factor an use that for the simulation? Thanks

The short answer is that you can create custom materials. The simulation solvers used in Fusion are based on Nastran solvers what are very powerful. It should be said that Nastran is primarily for steel. There are many things to consider, like you mentioned, print direction, but you also have different machines, with different nozzles sizes and heat output. Simulation is not meant to replace physical testing, but to limit the amount of physical testing. So professional companies will normally dial in the simulation data points on custom materials regards to how they prefer to manufacture parts Hope this is helpful

I would first see if I could get away applying an appearance instead of actual have to model it. What’s the end goal? If it is to showcase the design to a customer, that might work👍😊

Thank for another interesting video. I think quads are pretty difficult to design in generally, especially racers. High speed crashes with the quad bumping around tend to take forces from all directions. Mostly arms get ripped of of motors get torn away because of not enough material around mounting holes. (That is the most critisized thing often seen). With those stuff like 5 or even 6mm carbon fibre is reasonable. If you're making a simple toy, you have lot more room for lighter stuff. With low speed/mass (and not anticipating crashes) all you need is to counter the lift. A small quad lift is not that high either.-Manufacturing methods limit a lot too. Something like cutting a carbon board is pretty simple but manufacturing a honeycomb pattern could get easily difficult and expensive. If you intend to 3d-print one, something like Peon320 on thingiverse may give you some ideas.

Because they want to force you to pay for simple things that should and can very easily be done locally. Other software like Altair Inspire allow you to use the full extent of your hardware capabilities and provide cloud solves only as an option for when you need it for extremely complex solves. At the end of the day, it's all about the money.

I started to learn fusion 360, but I will stop working on this software. This future is not free. Grow up man, and stop this weak marketing.
