@@adskFusion Insanely well done video - I really miss finding something like this that deals with assemblies. We keep going back to Alibre Design because we cannot get imported assemblies to work properly, and continue modelling in Fusion without getting stuck with some feature that we cannot get placed right.

How does one determine which entity moves and which remains in its original co-ordinate position? For example, if one makes a line tangent to a circle, sometimes the line moves, sometimes the circle moves. How does on determine which will occur?

Is there any way to sketch _without_ constraints being added until you assign them? I find I use most of my time tracking down and deleting constraints that Fusion has decided I'd like. Lines become fixed to other lines, moving a circle drags half the drawing around, etc. I'd love to be able to just sketch without constraints and then go back in once I'm sure of the design intent... Can I delete only constraints within a selected boundary for instance..?

I'm impressed you don't waste time with snaps/grids just like a SW user. In fact, you might want to show all the newbies how to "shut off/hide" those features and clutters. Most tutorials waste many minutes explaining how to use /setup snaps and grids. Totally useless if you are a serious designer who will be dimensioning/specifying "everything".

Great tutorial. Thanks. My question is how do I disable a previously assigned constraint. For example, I have a 4 sided geometry and I added a = constraint, but then decided it would be better if the two equal parts are no longer needed, one now needs to be longer than the other, but I can't figure out how to disable that = constraint. Thanks again.

If u don’t set constraints and draw something 2d quite complex, I wish it would tell you before just doing the angle change to something. Also the move command. Wish it was like extrude to an object. In move there’s no distance command where you can just click on a face and it moves it there. Or at least I have yet to find it if it does exist.

Great videos, Taylor. Could you do one on sketching on multiple planes in 3d space and applying constraints to those sketches to create rails for Loft? I'm having a hell of a time. I can use constraints no problem on a single plane but they don't seem to have the same properties when there are multiple planes in 3d space. T-spline handles can't be manipulated either. I am clearly doing something wrong!

Can you please add annotations to this video (possibly over the top of the constraints window on the right since it doesn't move throughout the video) that act like a table of contents so when a viewer clicks on it, it skips forward in the video to the corresponding constraint they are looking for making it a lot more convenient. @P8qzxnxfP85xZ2H3wDRV
@P8qzxnxfP85xZ2H3wDRV 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, undoing constraints is a real pain, because it's really hard to find the right constraint. Unfortunately there's no constraint explorer that would show you all constraints (with description) when nothing is selected and show you the narrowed down list of constraints when you select something.
@arkain101
@arkain101 6 жыл бұрын
Can't you just highlight each of the sketch lines/objects one at a time that you want to remove the constraints from and copy and paste those geometries back into the sketch grid/plane and then you have the same geometry sketch object without the constraint.

so I am stuck on how to get a curved end on a profile. draw 2 lines 90 degrees to create a corner. Offset the corner by 10mm. Join the 2 ends with a curve and you have a 90 degree corner with curved ends - great. Increase the offset and the curves increase to match - great. BUT - decrease the offset to 5mm and the curves disappear and/or break. Tried it with 2 point circle and trim - same thing, they break. How can I drive these end curves to work with the offset without having to reference the offset formula? Thanks

I'm not sure if this is a constraint. For some reason after a certain period of time, the sketch becomes locked and I can't delete anything at all. I can add just fine, but can't do ANYTHING to the modify current sketch, extremely frustrating (fist through monitor level frustration) I just put a ticket in with AutoDesk this AM, I can't deal with this anymore. It's been so bad that I have to start all over with a sketch because the previous is locked. I get no warnings or explanations, drawing has a slight flash as if it's trying to delete but the problem remains.

Question. I'm brand new to Fusion 360 and I'm doing it the exact same way you are in the video collinear but when I click on my square then my line the line is what moves every time. I don't get it. I should be able to select what I want to move, not have fusion just pick what ever it wants. Also on the coincidence my circle will not move to the position selected on the line it just moves straight up above (inline with the line) but i have to move the line to meet the circle. I'm literally copying your moves and getting completely different results. What am I doing wrong? UPDATE: I didn't realize that you fixed and locked the green lines. Now that I did exactly what you did I can't get my box to collinear with a fixed line. Error: Failed to solve. Please try revising... etc
@adskFusion

I believe the first selection moves to the second when adding constraints. And the reason you may be seeing different results is that the UI has changed significantly since this was published.
@carpanimachine1875

@@adskFusion I wondered if that was a change to the UI. Kind of a dumb change. The way it worked here in this video is how it should work intuitively. Not like it is now.
