Thanks for helping with the new puppy. You're a wonderful human being and quite knowledgeable, other people can be ignorant and rude sometimes unfortunately. Like the comment about ego.

I think you have found a new friend Rich. Jax reminds me of our dog Brooks. They have the same traits. Unfortunately Brooks doesn't play nice with the cats so I have to be extra vigilant.

I just fell down the rabbit hole of stretch belts. Because I just saw this tool on Amazon. That has a torque multiplier that somehow holds the belt and assist in putting the belt on. That cost $220. The amount of belts I would do I don't think it would ever be worth it.

If you search for Ford belt install tool you'll find it. There's a couple different makers of it. It won't even let me post a part number

I'm beginning to really despise KZbin. Because the part number has the same amount of numbers as a phone number it keeps deleting my post.

No I had my airbags on the truck and I took them off now so the truck doesn't react as much to the bumps

Not a fan of the stretch belts, but that's the way you do them. Take care brother.
@Pantherman1979 Жыл бұрын
Neither am I @patmurphy2472, I don't have them on my vehicle; my brother had one on a 12 Fusion that he had. Thankfully (for my sanity) I only had to deal with it once.

Rich is The Man, again. I come from the heavy-duty world, so I am looking for your advice and experience. What is your overall experience with stretch belts? I am sooo afraid of those for the FEAD (front end accessory drive) designs on the HD engines. The fear comes from my ignorance ...and seeing what happens to the HD engines. "Simple" tests are 2,000 hours of running ...at $600/hr. Other tests are piggy backed and run 6,000 to 12,000 hours. If I fail, the cost to retest is awful ...and a 1-2 year delay. Our military tests are simple, 500 hours. Pickup gasoline engines can run 200 hour tests for some stuff. Racing engines get a 25 hour test. One program with Gates for shrink vs. spring coolant hose clamps for EDPM vs. Silicone hoses was 4 years. Rubber products scare me so much.

Regarding the stretch belt, isn’t there more than one way to skin a cat? So long as you’re not spending 2 hours on a job that pays .75 hours in labor, or breaking something, who cares what that other guy thinks? Did you repair it correctly? Yes. Did he waste time doing it his way? Yes. Beginners need to stop telling experts what to do.
