Add my 2017 2.7 Ford Fusion sport to that. It’s toast at 127k miles. Ford wants me to pay 3k for the tear down just so they can tell me what percentage of the 10k for the new engine they’ll “assist” with. And I still owe 10k on it. Haven’t driven it in a year and still got another year of paying on that damn thing.

Can you make a video on how or why Ford Explorers with V6 3.6 engine has a "LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE" when the engine is full with synthetic oil. My Explorer is a 2014 with 145, 000 miles. Already with a water pump failure at 110, 000 miles. I MADE FORD pay the $5500 bill. A factory design failure.

If you wanna tear my engine down for content and to prove to ford it’s their fault I’m ok with that. The misfire started at 65k and nobody could figure it out till it would hardly drive. I took it out of state cuz I was tired of throwing money at it and nobody being able to find the problem. The last people found the coolant intrusion. Safe bet to say it’s ALL ecoboosts.

It's the plants doing manufacturing. Look up Kobe Steel scandal from a few years ago. They were selling steel with fudged data specs as higher grade than what was testing as. Ford among other manufacturers admitted to purchasing steel from them during this generation of vehicles time line. Of 100 companies only a handful came forward with info on what the steel went towards making. Certain Toyota/subi vehicles had valve spring recall due to it. Ford had seat brackets possibly from the same stuff. Check it out

I only had 33 k miles on my 2017 Ford Escape 1.5l Ecoboost when the coolant intrusion started. I was 2 weeks beyond the 5 year powertrain warranty. It cost me $6300 out of pocket. How is this not a safety issue? Ford needs to do the right thing and recall these engines. This is a design flaw. Consumers should not be on the hook.

I'm a Ford Europe Master Technician and the Ecoboost is a huge headache, When it debuted it was showcased by Ford in 1.0 litre form in a fiesta at the technical training college in Daventry, England where myself and my senior technician amongst many other technicians from across Britain were invited down for an unveiling and to show us the general technical aspects of the engine so we could then go back and inform the rest of the workshop team. When they started it up after talking us through it me and my senior took one look at each other and said this thing will never work! Bloody EcoBOOM!!

I think what may be causing the problem is being run low on coolant and it going in into deactivation mode being Aluminum block they have a tendency to shift which would cause fatigue in cylinders Especially With a Siamese bore engine Adjust my 2 cents.

I was taking this issue personal when I had the disappearing coolant problem. Stop leak additives were just a temporary fix. At 145K miles, the cost of repair is more than the blue book value! Note to self: do extensive research on ANY car you’re thinking about buying - finding out something like this will save you a migraine down the road!!

I own a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium Turbo and at 70,000 miles my engine light went on and after I took it to the shop to have it diagnosed it turned out to be a $8,000 repair. It turns out that the 2017 have these issues of having the head seal leak into the engine and since the block is made of aluminum it would require a complete engine replacement. Don't bother about getting it from another distributer, it has to bought by Forde at $5,000 and the rest is labor. I had originally purchased new in 2017 and it was under warranty until the 60,000 miles. It is known that this is an issue and that there is no recall on it. My wife and I are on the fence on whether to replace the engine or not, what do you think. It still looks new from the outside and the inside

My wife’s 2018 Escape (approx 56,000 miles) is at the dealership getting the engine replaced. She was 4,000 miles and 42 days away from the power train warranty expiring. Cylinder 3 miss fires, drinking coolant, white smoke coming out of the tailpipe etc. It was another cracked engine block, this one on a 2.0 Eco-boost. If it was not for Covid and her working from home during parts of it, she would have been well past the 60,000 miles and we would have been out of warranty. Thank GOD it was still under warranty. We are so sorry for others that are not as lucky.

My sister in law 2013 escape 2.0 150k miles leaks coolant but not as bad as the escape in the video. Unfortunately Ford vehicles are a hit or miss, we are very lucky to have you Brian teaching us about their sometimes poorly made vehicles. Long life Brian!!!

I love your honesty and willingness to call out the problems, unlike the other ford tech channels that continue to deceive people, and say it's not a major issue. I'm a ford tech as well, and I find myself calling out Ford's newer vehicles for quality issues more and more as I work on newer rigs. Even new Toyota vehicles are having issues, Korean makes, hell, all of em. Don't buy anything new if you want value for your $. I always tell customers, sink a small portion of that extraction $ you would spend on new, buy a clean older vehicle, and fix it up. Not only are they cheaper, but better engineering, better part quality, material quality, less labor, less parts cost, and you can make it truly yours with rims, tint, stereo, lights, whatever. You'll still be out the door for a small fraction of a new pile. You'll spend less on insurance and registration. You'll pay less tax. All brands, all models, are just planned obsolescence. That is absolutely the truth. I drive an old 03' 7.3 super duty, and a 08' Scion TC that are both fixed up pretty nice, the way I want them, for pennies on the dollar. I'd never trade either in for any of today unreliable turds. 300k problem free miles from the superduty, key on, hook some weight to it, go strait to New York right now with zero worries. Same with the TC, there's close a thousand pounds of audio equipment in it, been like that for some time, and I'd trust it over anything new to go anywhere. The wife's 09' G8 stays in the driveway at 70k, with a cover on it, because I know the afm is trash, and will likely have problems soon. We will sell that to an enthusiast for top dollar, and get something older, more reliable and be able to replace it if it gets hit or totaled. Don't trust any of these newer vehicles without extensive research and knowledge, because chances are, it'll cost you big. This is by far my favorite ford channel, you keep it real, a true American and patriot helping others avoid major headaches. You're awesome dude! From one ford tech to another, I'd EASILY day you're the best in the biz! Thanks all you do for everyone!

What happens when you wreck the older cars? The insurance won’t give you jack for them and you’re out a good bit of money keeping up the older ones unfortunately. I agree with a lot of what you’re saying but I’m not spending thousands to fix an old car just to get it totalled out and insurance writes you a check for a fraction of true value being book value

Spot on... One of my rides is an 05 Mountaineer with the notorious 4.0 SOHC. At about 230k, I got the timing rattle at ~2300 RPM. I did a timing job using Brian's videos to fix the rattle and it runs like a champ. The engine design is stupid with chains in the front and rear so it is an engine out job but it was a pretty easy engine pull and there was plenty of room in the engine bay. Other than that and some work on the 5R55S trans at ~150k on the valve body/solenoids, it has been a tank and it has been driven from coast to coast many times. It has been paid off for a long time and is relatively easy to work so I hope to get it into the next decade... too many computers/unnecessary electronics/turbos on newer vehicles... NA all the way!

That's usually is the key for success, or buy an over priced headache, and who know what you'll deal with later down the road. George, I agree completely. I don't think any new cars or trucks are worth what they are asking. I actually bought a nice old 95 Taurus, under 100K, for $100. Little money for head gaskets and it is my daily driver. I wouldn't hesitate to hop in and travel anywhere with it. And today's engineers... they don't have a clue, as to the problems we have working on their over-engineered garbage... any make!

Thank you so much. I contacted the NHTSA and made a formal complaint. They stated they only had 11 complaints about this issue but upon reading just about engines I found tons of complaints regarding this issue. I asked them why did they have the coolant issue in the 184 complaints (clearly a way of them not having enough to issue a recall) and they should look into the 184 complaints and move them to the right category. Interesting but I don't believe they have specific guidelines to issue a recall. May a leg, arm or body? So after I issued a formal complaint I pulled it up today and sure enough they even put me in the 187 complaints. It is super important that anyone that is having this issue to and report it on there site. Sounds like it takes alot of us before they are forced to do something. I have learned about about these Ecoboost engines from people like you but never from FORD. They issue service bulletins to the ford dealers but never clue us in. We just spent 1500. on spark plugs and coils to now find we need a new engine. We are talking weeks. Unfortunately the mechanic didn't know about this issue. Not sure if that is common or not. 8000 for a new engine and honestly they don't even have that! SHAMEFUL that Ford keeps on trucking and leaving all of us on the side of the road!

I was one of the fortunate ones that just happened to be reading online one day about 2017 Ford Edge issues when I read about all of the engine coolant and misfires issues that owners were having.. At that time my Edge had 48,053 miles on it, just under their 50K powertrain warranty. Concerned, I had my independant mechanic do the Ford prescribed 5 hour coolant test and sure enough, it failed their test. I had the mechanic document exactly what he did and went to my Ford dealer and showed him the results of the test. Fortuantely, they didn't have much choice but to agree with my mechanics test resuts so they covered the entire long block replacement cost, including a free loaner for almost three weeks because at that time, (during the pandemic) Ford was having a problem delivering long block engine parts. I will say that i did have a very understanding Ford dealer. Had I not seen those issues online that day I also would have been stuck with a very expensive repair bill. I, like others have always been a Ford person and also like others, I was pissed that they didn't issue a recall on that engine. Shame on them. Ford screwed a lot of people on that one. The only thing that I would have liked to find out was, what did they change on the new long block to correct that issue. Many people I learned had to pay nearly $8-9K to get their vehicles repaired. My Edge now has 73,000 miles on it but my new engine has about 24,000 on it. I feel really bad for all those Ford owners who were not as fortunate.

I bleed blue, but Ford lost me when they abandoned their pushrod V8s and went to the modular engine. @@roenick371 I think the 5 liter V8 Mustang is the only non-turbo left here in the states. The 3.5 turbo is what they're using as the large engine in the F-150. My 3.7 has become obsolete.

I had the same problem with my 2019 Ford Fusion. They replaced the short block. I just got the car back from the Ford dealer 2 days ago after almost 5 months in the shop because of part shortages. Luckily it only had 52,000 miles on it so it was still under warranty. They loaned me a 2022 Ford Edge to drive while it was being repaired.

I'm with you on all that, Brian. I was a Ford tech for 19+ years and I was giving the ecoboost a chance. I traded my 2007 Fusion V6 AWD for a 2015 Fusion 2.0 AWD. I loved the 2015 Fusion it was great, my wife got a 2014 Escape 1.6 back in 2017. Around 2020, I performed the pressure test and immediately traded it in for a 2018 Escape 2.0 Titanium. That being said, a month later, her old Escape was sold and came back with the engine blown. Coolant intrusion in cylinders 2, 3 and 4. And 3 months ago, my Fusion had coolant intrusion in cylinders 3 and 4. Now, I have a 2020 F150 with 7800 miles with a 3rd Gen Coyote 5.0 and I'm praying her Escape will be ok. It might not be affected but who the hell knows. I also have a 2006 Mustang GT with the 3 Valve 4.6 and that's a hell of a motor...short lived but great results. Ford should be ashamed of themselves. My wife works for a competing dealership, you can imagine our conversations at the dinner table LOL, and she said even Hyundai, Kia and Subaru have extended warranties on their engines. Not Ford. Only on the stupid Fiesta and Focus transmissions with the dual clutch there's an extended warranty and TSB.

They have so many TSB. I adjudicate mechanical claims. TSB for over 4 year coolant instruction, cam phasers, and dual clutch transmission. My least favorite is cam phaser Cust sat campaign prorated on mileage only if you have reflash done by 12/31/22. Multiple of them for major components like engine and transmission. They should recall these. I purchased my last Ford they take little to no responsibility

I agree with you all. I still love Ford as a whole but how can you constantly assemble vehicles with the same problem over and over again? It's pretty sad when I would speak with one of the engineers at Ford about the repair I'm performing and they can walk me through it and all but then when I questioned, "What's causing this so we can tell the customer?" And EVERYTIME, "We don't have an answer yet." And that was back in 2013. And yea, let's put a ecoboost in all our vehicles. Almost just as bad as Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat or whatever the hell they are now, dropping a Hellcat in every vehicle they make! LOL Bring back the cars of the late 90s to mid 00s!

2017 MKZ 2.0T, 55K miles owner here. I appreciate your knowledge and all the info you share with us. Car is still at dealership, been there since July 5 waiting on gasket kit. I figured since the engine is out I told the dealer to put in brand new spark plugs. Do you have any suggestion on what other item (s) I should have replaced since the engine is out? Thank you. Also do you recommend any break in period on the new engine replacement? What is the best driving practice for appropriate break in? This makes me grateful for the plain and simple 2.5 liter in my 2014 Fusion. It's nothing amazing, but nothing bad. Iit just works. I've put over 100K trouble free miles on my engine, changing oil every 5-6K miles.

Had my Eco Boost engine rebuilt instead of replacing it. Saved a lot of money. My Eco Boost engine is in my 2017 Escape. Hope I don't have a future problem with my rebuild. I'll keep a close watch on it.

My daughter has a '14 Escape with 2.0 0ver 100,000 miles no problems. Son has '19 explorer with 2.0 30,000 miles so far no problems. I have '20 Edge 2.0 20,000 miles no problems. I feel your frustration Brian. I have that same look on my face that you had at the end of the video almost daily. Newer cars just don't hold up like older models. I have to disagree about escapes being good cars though lol. I do fixed recon up in Rockford and every time we get one of those in its major repairs. Most often it needs a transmission when it's around 100k miles, or a camshaft because the high pressure fuel pump tappet has a hole in it, or engines because of coolant consumption. I have a 2017 Ford Escape SE with the 1.5L Ecoboost with 28,000 miles and my wife has a 2015 Lincoln MKC Reserve with the 2.0L Ecoboost and hers just rolled over to 70,000 miles 2 days ago. As of yet there have been no major issues but I will be keeping an eye on the coolant from now on. I'm due for an oil change in a couple of weeks so I'm sure they'll inform me of any visible leaks. This happened to my 2017 2.0 escape last year at about 48k. Luckily it was still under warranty. From my research it does look like ford revised the repair blocks from having a slit between the cylinders(giving not nearly enough space for the gasket to hold back fluid from the cylinders for very long) to holes further away from the space between the cylinders. Hopefully that’s true of the long block they replaced on mine. I have an extended warranty to 100k so if it breaks again at least I have some coverage for a while. Screw Ford. Never again for me. 2nd one I had with major issues. I also had the focus with the stupid DCT.

Had a 2015 Focus with DCT, 5 transmission repairs, major, and 6 minor resets. I documented everything. Joined the lawsuit, they bought it back. Used the money to get a bone stock 2.5L 2018 Escape S with 24k miles, no turbo, no issues. Basically identical to the Focus inside, and it is my wife's car, and she loves it. 2.5 is a workhorse motor, and we bought extended warranty since Ford gave us 90% of the purchase price of the Focus SE. They deducted for the 26K miles we put on it in 5 years. Considered a Toyota, but I did not want a payment. So we have a 2017 F150 STX 2.7 EB and 2018 Escape, no payments. IF we ever need a new vehicle, our son works for Toyota, on assembly, so we will get family discount. But I expect my truck to last another 10 years at least. Maintenance is the key.

I bought a 2012 Focus HB new, and had the trans. replaced under warranty then drove it until 12/2019 trading it in on a 2018 Focus Titanium. I put 300,000 on the 2012 without any further issues. The 2018 needs a battery soon. I would love to have a Focus 5 speed Manual.

Its fully loaded with every option except the power seats and steering wheel, also it has aftermarket wheels and cat back with a cob intake, runs good for 280 some horses. Been getting a list together to pull 20-30 more ponies out her because 300hp is just a better more round number in my opinion.

The lack of deck surface on the block is the main issue on those engines and the coolant consumption and yes the common secret ,head gasket failure. I think that was the main reason for the headgasket failure issues on Rover K series engines.

Great video. I owned a 2014 Focus Titanium and got rid of it after 4 years with only 22k miles on it. The issues were the transmission which was an absolute piece of garbage. and the the engine oil leaks which is what finally did it for me. I took it to a Ford dealer and also to an independent mechanic to confirm the diagnosis from the dealer that I need about $2500 in new gaskets, and seals. The independent mechanic told me it would better to get rid of the car as he had seen many issues with these Ecoboost engines, and the well documented double clutch POS transmission issues that Ford knew about before production but sold them anyway. NEVER again will I buy another FORD vehicle. Really sad, because my wife, the prime driver of it, loved everything else about the car and so did I. Ford should rename these engines EcoBUST

I totally agree with you that recent times we see more design flaws across the board of a lot of manufacturers, not just ford. They care too much about making a easy buck instead of caring about their customers. I stick to the older models that are much more reliable. I have a 03 f150 2 valve that still runs like a champ, sure its blown a spark plug here recently but that was a pretty easy fix. Its practically breaking in half body and frame wise but runs and shifts good. Just like the old crown vics theyre a dinosaur v8 that doesn't put out tons of power but are nearly bulletproof mechanically.

Excellent video, sir! This makes me want to sell my wife’s 2014 Titanium Escape while it’s still running and looks like new. We always drive it easy and hardly ever get on it, but every once in a while, I get a whiff of coolant for a few seconds. The tank level stays normal and nothing leaking so I hope the smell is just coming from the coolant tank vent for now. It also has 72,000 miles, but not driven too often since my wife works from home. It’s had quite a few road trips, but hardly anymore. I think it’s time to sell it while it’s good and move on. There is no coolant vent besides cylinder 2 lol, He's saying it runs at 20 - 21lbs of pressure thats constant except when it cools down. Thats why there is a fill mark on the reservoir bottle for expansion. You can't vent coolant it's a hazmat chemical.

Back in the old days, that problem was the result of a head gasket leak. Cylinder pressure would push into water passages which would in return, overflow the coolant reservoir and eventually push all the coolant out. Some times the coolant system would bleed back into the cylinders but not always. Pressure testing coolant wouldn't always detect a problem. Happy knuckle busting!

That's what is happening on these ecoboost engines as well. They designed a slit in the cylinder walls right at the joint to the next cylinder which causes the headgasket to be MUCH thinner at those points which is the obvious weak point and fail point.

I have a 2016 Ford Fusion SE Ecoboost @135,000 miles (mostly highway miles) Only issues were the purge valve failing and a few recalls (still need to get them done) but the engine is still going! I changed all the fluids so far and i'm good still. Car overall drives decently still!

My wife has the 2013 Escape 1.6 ECO. At 96,000 miles she blew the sparkplug on #2. The sparkplug threads where toast. I Heal-a-coiled the thread to get her back on the road. But she has been having coolant leak issues that I've never been able to locate. Thanks for the informative video. I'm just going to let her drive it till it blows up and then get her a new car. Maybe a 13-20 Explorer like I have? Only problem I have with my 13 explorer is that the climate control has a mind of it's own. The darn thing turns itself off whenever it wants and makes the constant "button push noise". I basically have to adjust the temp up and down or push random buttons to make it stop. Other than that it's been a great vehicle. On another note. If you have a sunroof don't ever open it or they will leak. Or make sure you blow out the drains once a year. Otherwise rain will pool around the circuit board for the window motor and you'll be stuck with a sunroof that won't close. Again thanks for the great video.

I have rented a few different cars- Edge, Taurus, Mercury Marquis, that have the engines and the performance is wonderful. Really hope that Ford fixes this stuff. I love their cars. Had my 2015 1.5L EcoBoost do this. First Ford tech thought it was head gasket so replaced it. He left the dealership new guy came in found service bulletin to check for this - well he found it. Luckily I had premium ford warranty. I always get it and they have paid for themselves on a number of my Ford vehicles. Motor got changed at approximately 50,000 miles. They had my car for like 6 months for the repair. Got it back and they had pinched a wire harness during the swap. Not sure when I should get timing belt changed? New dealer service manager is recommending at 150,000. Even my 2008 ford focus 2.0L has a timing chain. Another problem with these engines. Belt goes and so does your valve train. Oh my focus has bad bypass valve in the ABS pump module. Troubleshot off your other video. Cant find replacement part anywhere!! Thank you Ford for supporting your secondary part line. Let's just discontinue the part so everyone has to scrap their cars. Oh recall covered higher end fusions and Lincolns but not the economy cars same era. I'm about done with Ford. Can someone suggest a reliable brand I can switch to on my next vehicle. Oh they just serviced transmission, changed oil, and spark plugs and now I'm noticing a serious power loss in about the 3rd gear range. Thing usually gets up and goes. One thing I do like. Our weather has been pretty hot so thought that might be a contributing factor. Any suggestions, other than to dump the car? It has been paid off for awhile thank goodness. I had a 2011 F150 with the 2.3 eco boost. I put 75,000 on it. I never had this issue with antifreeze burning or loss. The problem we did have was the rear differential over heating from a faulty fit of the gears. You could fry an egg on it when it was hot. It took three returns to the dealer befor they finally fixed the problem. I now own a 2019 F150 eco boost. 11,000 miles so far. No problems yet.

The gen 1 2.0l Ecoboost is probably the most reliable with a closed deck design of the block. When Ford went to the Twin Scroll Ecoboost was released in late 2015 they went to an open block design, much weaker.

Back in the 70’s my Corolla use to go through head gaskets. I finally figured out that it was because I was doing a lot of engine braking (teenage games). During engine braking, head vacuum is doing a lot of work and head gaskets are primarily engineered for compression. These fords use engine downshifting with cruise control to maintain speed and - god forbid you use your brakes to slow down on the highway. A 1.6 l does little to slow down a suv and suspect this is part of the problem.

Which engine? The Sierra 2.0 had the Pinto ohv motor. The Escort 16V was the test bed for the Focus 1.6, the Focus 1.8 was the older motor and was discontinued 2 years after the focus came out. Imo the 16V is a development of the RS1600 / RS1600i / XR3i family that were eventually superceded by the Ecoboost. I could be wrong but I've dailyed a Focus 16V since 2006 and it's a strong and reliable motor and I've had none of the issues detailed in the video.

I know this is against the recommendation but, I have had luck with draining all the coolant and filling with 100% antifreeze with no dilution. The fluid is thicker and will slow or stop being ingested by the engine. Worth a shot.

The ABS sensors and their wiring was a mess and one of the harnesses passing through the firewall had to be rewired due to shorts. Overall the maintenance costs weren't that high. Traded my Ford and became a chevy owner cuz all the problems with my 2015 explorer and that was back in 2019... car payment and dumping literally thousands upon thousands of dollars into a vehicle everytime u turn around and never knowing if u were going to break down or what was going to break next and ford was no help...

@@JDMSwervo2001 guess I have been lucky 2016 2500 and 2019 suburban both have over 100k... my explorer was a 2015 from then til 2019 when I traded it I put about 8k into not including what Ford covered it also needed a new steering rack and only had 60k on it and I only drove it in the summer...

NHTSA has a recall listed for 2014 ford escapes with this coolant issue but when you give your vin to ford they say they only see a recall for door latches

With a side view bore scope you can usually see the coolant dripping out of the head gasket. Unfortunately I have seen that too many times

Your videos are great and thank you for doing them. My wife has a 2013 Escape 2.0 and it just turned 180,000 miles. We haven't had anything done to it other than regular oil changes done by myself and plugs about a month ago. It still runs like it did the day we bought it. I keep waiting for some disaster but it keeps going with no issues. I will check the coolant though. Your videos are the best and have helped me with the ford edge 3.5 and f-150 5.0. (No issues with the 5.0 yet) love that motor.... my son has a 05 ranger 4.0 with close to 300,000 miles and still going.

Same here with my 2014 SE 2L ecoboost. Daily tested against any muscle car or pretender. I suspect I'll be more gentle knowing what I learned from the video.

Hi I just bought a 2016 focus 1.5ltr turbo ecoboost with 33k klm only No issues I'm just thinking if I put a cooler thermostat and extra electric fan will that fix the problem of the head issues . What the original thermostat degrees now 82 I can not find anything on it .thank you in advance

As I write this, my 2018 has been sitting at the dealer for two weeks awaiting a replacement long block for this very reason! Thank God for our extended powertrain warranty! Ford really needs to own up on their defective Ecoboost motors!

They corrected this design flaw issue with the 2019 1/2 engine design....on all these ecoboosts....probably the replacement you'll be getting.

@EGGProduction I have an extended powertrain warranty through April 2024 so the dealership covered the replacement. Otherwise I would probably have had to pay for the replacement up front and pray for reimbursement. What's going on with yours? Mine started out by blowing smoke for a bit then would disappear. Check engine with misfire code came on and the coolant reservoir was slowly going dry. Two weeks later, it would smoke constantly, which is when I decided to park it until I could get it resolved.

I have a base model S Escape with the non turbo 2.5. Close to 300 thousand miles and basically trouble free. Seems like the more they try to squeeze out of smaller engines the more issues arise.

Trying to get more performance out of smaller motors has benefits but theres no way around the fact that the motor is just going to be more high strung and more likely to develop problems.

Same here! I was a Ford tech for 9 years (still a tech but for a fleet of Ford vehicles) and when we bought our 2016 fusion se I wanted the 2.5L engine cause it is vastly more reliable than the other 2 options. The 2.0L eb is a lot better than the 1.5/1.6 but still has issues. Our fusion has been rock solid for us, regular maintenance, the usual front cover oil leak (warranty covered) and a driver seat module that failed ($70 fix) and that's it!

we are looking at a 2020 Lincoln Nautilus with the 2.0 T, does that engine have this same issue, I can't gather the full range of engine years you are speaking of or how old this video is. what should I look for concerning the 2020 2.0 to ensure it's of the new design? Thank you!

I had a 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium. It was wonderful car. When it hit 69000 miles and I started it up in the morning it would blow lots of white smoke out of the tailpipe. Once I saw that I traded it in for a new Toyota Camry SE.

Thank you so much for this video. My wife and I would love to like and own another Ford. Love the looks of the Mustang, but It's basically off the list at this point. Because I really don't want the V8 and the 4 banger turbo is the only other option. Dropping the V6 was stupid. Ford has no excuse making these kinds of mistakes. My 2011 Crown Vic Police is still solid after now owning it for over 3 years. It's not like they don't know how to build something great! And after now owning 2 fairly bulletproof Honda's, I couldn't live with buying something that's going to quickly turn to garbage based on looks. The Dodge Charger seems like a better choice at this point!!

Nothing beats the V8 Mustangs but the 3.7 V6 is a solid daily driver and is fun to drive with ~305 HP/ 280 lbft at the crank and decent gas mileage. It was a great improvement over the previous generation 4.0 V6 SOHC with 210 HP/ 240 lbft torque. The 3.7 V6 is very reliable and it has the external water pump unlike the 3.5/3.7 versions of the engine in FWD vehicles. The engines are also easy to work on/maintain. The Ecoboost has an edge with additional HP/torque but at the cost of long term reliability/cost of repairs.

@@robc7323 I agree 100%. I have an 06 Mustang with the 4 liter and automatic transmission, it was bought with 45,000 miles on it and now has 51,000. It is fairly reliable, but I know that the newer Mustangs with the 3.7 V6 are much, much better. And yes, Ford screwed up bigtime by dropping the 3.7 from the Mustang.

I have the 2008 F-150 4.6L with 171,000 i don’t think I will get rid of it. I purchased it 2011 with 80,000 miles on it. Very reliable truck.
