Wouldn't it be cleaner to skip duplicating the cylinder, and pattern the emboss feature rather than the body. Patterning the feature keeps the body count at 1, eliminating the combine feature. Extrude the original cylinder through itself to cut it away.

Two things that I find annoying when working with emboss are that it doesn't work with surfaces (only solids) and it always joins with the solid rather than giving you option to create separate bodies.

Ya, I wish you could create the emboss as a separate body. I could find that useful for doing over-moulding, etc. You could thicken your surface a tiny amount to do the emboss.

sure easier to position the text with this emboss tool. Versus when I did the original flagpole which wasn't as easy making fine adjustments (at least to me). <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="19">0:19</a>

Ya, creating the text on the flagpole project a few years ago was time-consuming. Emboss makes it so much easier.

This would be super useful. Currently I am move/rotating each face. No cumbersome. Having this built in would be a yuuuge time saver.

I would use the Draft command to add draft to the emboss after it was created.

I wonder if this feature could be used some how to cut threads. The most onerous being the threads used on plastic bottle caps.

You would definitely want your sketch to be correct before embossing. Make sure the pitch/angle of the rectangle you are embossing is correct before embossing. Then you could fillet/chamfer the thread.

You know there's a thread feature, right? I don't use it so I can't give much advice, but know that you need to ensure that you turn on modeling to actually use the threads. I believe the default is just a thread appearance, and that make people think it doesn't work.
