What's the duration of those weld repairs like? If there is no added material then it stands to reason it will be weak in that area and prone to future re-failure? I have been tig welding cracked cymbals but I use filler and stop drill the cracks to remove stress raisers and reduce the risk of propagation of the crack. One thing I will add is that welding cracked cymbals is just about the trickiest welding I have ever done! They are absolute little horrors to weld! Got to work harder on them to get the desired results than pretty much anything else?( contaminated cheap alloy castings hold the honour of being the worst!)

Hi Andrew, the dozen or so cymbals that Jake has laser welded for me have held up well, and I play a lot of gigs. All of my welds have been think lathe cracks, or hole cracks. Jake has been doing this for a number of years and the many drummers of Nashville who use his service have been pleased with his work.
