Futaba looks much better now.)" *FUTABA:* "Futaba Sakura. Hacker for the side of good." *EDGEWORTH:* "State your name and...WAIT, YOU GAVE IT TO ME WITHOUT ME EVEN ASKING?!" *FUTABA:* "Yeah. I didn't want to keep you waiting." *EDGEWORTH:* "Let me guess. You ALSO think Ren is innocent?" *FUTABA:* "I KNOW he is! He's on probation, you know!" *EDGEWORTH:* "The police department is well-aware of the suspect's probation, Miss Sakura." *WRIGHT:* "(Futaba is a totally different girl without a crowd surrounding her! And bonus points to her for annoying Edgeworth to the point he's talking through gritted teeth.)" EDGEWORTH: "Wright. Let's just get this over with. ​@milo_south3670 Actually, that's incorrect. One of the major plot points throughout the series is that the justice system puts too much power in the judge. In the 4th game, Apollo Justice, the final case is "an experiment" where a jury of peers decide the verdict instead of a judge.

@@CamperCarl00 Which, considering the series is obviously a take on the Japanese legal system, makes sense. In the case of the first game in particular, it's actually an extremely scathing criticism of a lot of that system, from corrupt/career-focused prosecutors who basically get free reign of the courtroom, to the focus on win rates over truth, to the presumption of guilt and insane burden placed on defense attorneys in a system that has something like a 98% conviction rate.

I would imagine Futaba has the Black Psyche Locks from Dual Destinies because she repressed the fact that she didn’t kill her mother. In that sense, Phoenix guiding her through it and breaking them would pretty much change her heart.

@@Technocyde yeah, the earlier games are probably better for less familiar people, but Reverse of Arcadia (2010) and Over the Nexus (2011) have a massive cardpool, they're fun as long as you know how Synchro monsters work
