Sojiro's Coffee Break (Beneath the Mask) Persona x Ace Attorney Remix

So that's where Godot gets all his coffee from...
I've wanted to cover this song ever since I started this channel but I wasn't quite sure how to style this one when I started it. At first I tried to make it similar to Godot's theme for obvious reasons, but it didn't quite fit. So - I experimented with various instruments in the Ace Attorney soundfont to sort of create its own style. Let me know what you all think. I hope you like it!

EDGEWORTH: *_"DOZENS OF TIMES!!!_* I do not want to have to play this game yet again with a witness! Occupation, please!" WRIGHT: "Just tell him what you do for a living, Sojiro." SOJIRO: "Oh, is that so? Sorry, cravat-boy, I didn't get what you meant by 'occupation'. I'm the owner of a cafè in Yongen-Jaya known as 'Leblanc'. I serve coffee and curry for a living, what of it?" EDGEWORTH: "'Cravat-boy?!' Ugh...at least you aren't a talker like Ms. Oldbag." SOJIRO: "Ren is INNOCENT, by the way. This testimony will make damn sure of that." WRIGHT: "(I sure hope Sojiro's memory isn't too shot...)" SOJIRO: "Hey, Wright! I'm not _that_ old!" WRIGHT: *"YIPE!* Sorry, Mr. Sakura, sir! (I said that out loud, didn't I...?)"

*Fun Fact:* Ace Attorney 1 amd Persona 5 are both set in 2016 (and, if we're looking at Gyakuten Saiban, in Japan). Meaning Phoenix (or Mia or Grossberg) could've defended Joker in court.

Mia is Joker's defense in court for hitting Shido. Shido uses his political and criminal connections to hire Redd White to blackmail the police department to ensure a conviction and cover up his behavior that night. Fabricated evidence is presented in court courtesy of Chief Gant's meddling. Joker is found guilty, but Mia's investigation before the trial risks Shido being caught if the case is appealed. Case 1-1 happens while the appeal is still being prepared. Redd White unintentionally ties up the loose end by killing Mia, leading into Case 1-2 and resulting in his conviction. The events of P5 follow. Chief Gant gets his comeuppance later in Case 1-5. It just works.

The jazziness and repetition of this pieces makes it jump out at you more than the average character theme in ace attorney but I kinda like that. With how calm it is it'd make it feel especially tense when basically other song kicks in because its absence would be more noticed than most other character themes

Y'know, I'm not entirely surprised Beneath the Mask was a challenge to translate to a Phoenix Wright style. You did a great job, but I still don't think it works as an Ace Attorney character theme. Still, I think the only thing that'd be needed is making it simpler. As it goes, I quite like this as a standalone version.

Thanks! I think the issue is that the more identifiable instruments from the game couldn't be used as much as I would have liked, which unfortunately would have left it not as "relaxing" sounding. But, it was an experiment and I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless!

@@Technocyde Certainly did, certainly did. I'm by no means an expert, but the instruments things sounds about right. Still, as I said, I think this version could be finagled if you made it a shorter, simpler loop. Character themes in AA do tend to have varying styles depending on personality. Not really worth doing without actually planning to put it in a game, though.
