It's quite amazing that Zapp actually came up with a good plan AND was able to negotiate down to one person being eaten.
@jaredkrol37392 жыл бұрын
I would say the Omicronians are similarly doofus-ish as Zapp (or at least Lrrr is) so it makes some sense they could come to an agreement. I mean they demanded a new episode of a 1000 year old TV show for crying out loud.
@vetarlittorf18072 жыл бұрын
@@jaredkrol3739 Well, they didn't know it was a 1000 year old TV show since it took 1000 years for the transmissions to reach Omicron Persei 8. Either way, the fact that Zapp actually came up with the idea of using the Omicronians' inability to tell apart individual humans to their advantage is quite surprising. It's the first time he's ever come up with a plan that actually makes sense.
@jasonbrennan99182 жыл бұрын
That's probably because Kif did most of the negotiating - the omicronians did think he was the statesman afterall - while, (understandably) mistaking Zapp for a 'jabbering mental patient'
@purgeblue Жыл бұрын
@@vetarlittorf1807his is the one episode Zapp wasn’t actually too hatable since he came up with the idea to use the omicronians inability to tell apart to trick them, and even after the vegan guy said it was fake, Zapp had an actual good reaction to it, it might be because of it was Leela they were faking, but still Zapp’s intolerance of the Vegan saying it was a trick was actually a satisfying reaction of him
@gurvmlk3 ай бұрын
@@vetarlittorf1807 I think they did know how old the show was, since at the end of the same episode, they say that they need to return to their planet to catch a thousand-year-old Leno monologue. Rather, they probably don't realize that humans don't live that long. It's clear in that very same episode that they don't know much about humans, since they think they can raise Earth's temperature by one million degrees a day for five days as a threat, like the planet won't be wiped out after just the first day.

This episode was clearly Zapp Branningan's finest hour. He literally saved all humanity by convincing the Omicronians to only eat one person, and even came up with a good plan to save that one person too. It actually says a lot that Zapp was so dedicated to ensuring his plan didn't cost a single human life. Normally he wouldn't care about one death one bit.

Not to push my own views on anyone, but I went through a vegetarian phase early in my life that ended once I came to the realization that human beings are omnivores by nature. We can't live off of one or the other, we need to have a balance of both meat and vegetables in order to survive. It's like that episode of The Simpsons where Lisa's vegetarian lifestyle wasn't giving her enough protein or iron in her diet, so she started eating bugs as a workaround.

I think vegans should not fight for prohibiting eating meat, but get a degree and make a product as good as meat or better so everyone volunteers to switch. That is a fight for real change. As well as with abortion: find a way to preserve the growth of children out of the uterus, so you don't need abortion at all.
