Not sure whether you realized, but The Scary Door is a reference to The Twilight Zone. Same type of intro narration and whatnot. That episode of Scary Door is based on the Twilight Zone episode "Time Enough at Last" starring the legendary Burgess Meredith in one of his numerous appearances on that show.

Nixon is such an epic character in this show. His sidekick Agnu is a legend. Agnu is such a meme that he is even a character in the game Kenshi.

I believe I read somewhere many years ago that the joke behind Morbo was that during the mid 90s local TV station news went completely crazy with really over the top graphics and sound effects and what not and one local station was calling themselves "The News Monster" with lighting and CGI explosions. Morbo is a news monster

Fun fact- George Washington actually was quite the lush. His teeth weren't made of wood, but they looked like it bc they were so stained from his drinking (hippo ivory is very porus). He also had leopard skin blanks made for his horses
