Sanela Ibrovic, I strongly disagree with your statement than the Google Android Automotive system in the XC40 P8 is 'one of the best, if not the best systems in the market’, and that it has an ‘unmatched level of convenience’. I have been driving the P8 for 7 months now and despite several updates (that still don’t work ‘Over The Air’) the list of unsolved problems is still long: Loss of internet (quite essential for having a ‘connected experience’), loss of connection to the phone (requires stopping the car for reconnection), loss of connection to Spotify (again, stop the car to reconnect), no support for Apple CarPlay, no connection to Volvo Cars app to see SoC, no WiFi connection, deviations from the actual SoC and what Google thinks the SoC is, and so on. And still most of the GUI in Android Automotive is text-based, making the use of it very distracting from driving. Even eCall is not working? And most disappointing is the reaction of Volvo: They closed the ‘Electric Drives Connect’ forum today, and are directing the group of first drives to their dealers. As if they can fix these issues..

Good to see Volvo is beginning to develop software and interfaces, presumably building on the existing Volvo on call App? I know some of the images were of the concept car shown recently but one of the things that many have given feedback on is that the main screen appears almost as an afterthought in the design and not actually built into the dashboard. It looks so much better when it is incorporated and would also be much more user friendly if in Landscape orientation and slightly angled towards the driver? It's great that Volvo are using there own in-house developers and software engineers but that can lead to silo thinking. There is a great community already on the Volvo drivers connect system, why not use that community to trial some of the new ideas if they have vehicles that are compatible? That gives real world experience and live feedback and will also help innovation, directly related to what customers want?

Is this new app or the same one (Wireless car) sold to VW?

All Volvos are good. However, as for the power on/off method, I would like it to be like other cars. The power to turn is safer, so if you do it, you can do it as it is, but it looks like a starting error will occur.

These features will be rolled out to our cars with Google infotainment system gradually over time via regular over-the-air updates to all electric Volvo cars.

Removal of "Drive mode" selection wheel simply a wrong and bad decision. Did your UX designer actually happened to change the "Drive mode" on the screen while driving?

For driverless cars, security is important. It seems difficult... This is impossible even with a computer. It seems impossible for a driverless car. However, the place where complete security comes from will be the best car brand in 2050.

To be honest, wouldn't it be better for energy companies to directly produce eco-friendly gasoline rather than electric vehicles? I think you can make it. Even if the charging time of an electric vehicle is reduced, it is likely to break down, the electricity may be cut off, and even if a driverless car is made, the computer is not secure, but it is a car security problem..

As a smaller company, we need to focus our efforts to ensure we can make the best cars for our customers. As such, we are not currently pursuing hydrogen cars, instead focusing our full attention on making the best possible battery electric vehicles which we believe are the future.

I get it, let Google do what they do best collect all your personal data while Volvo learn about your driving habits. A match made in heaven. Just not sure if partnering with Google can be considered customer centric???

Volvo will never share data arbitrarily with any third party, including Google. Data sharing will be a choice for you as a user. If you choose not to share data, your experience will be impacted and some services will not be available to you, as data sharing is required for certain features to work, such as location information for maps.

Futurism. The OEM of now need to adapt to modern times. Millennials are not going to buy cars that aren't technologically advanced. We want a tech interface in our vehicles.
