after they sued KZbinr because he pointed every flaw they made on purpose….. , I sold my dCS Vivaldi Apex and will never again buy anything from these morons….

Good on you mate - plus they use the over the top and IMHO ugly, overpriced and improperly designed Wilson speakers here and that writes the whole experiment and experience off in the first place.

DCS can pound sand after the way they go after any reviewer who doesn't give their overpriced garbage a glowing review.

100% agree and these ugly improperly designed speakers give the whole experience and experiment a "so what" result that means very little .

Two of my friends went this route and I listened to their systems recently. My own is vinyl based, handling mostly classic rock (surface noise less of an issue). I must say that DCS (coupled with Solution and Magico) made a strong case. The sound from DCS++ was superior on many parameters, but I am less sure about the music. If my starting point was DCS++, would I have migrated to vinyl? Maybe not, especially if my diet was quieter music.

D’Agostino monoblocks and Wilson Chronosonics. Yikes! Granted DCS’s stuff is top-of-the-line so I guess the associated gear is appropriate. Way out of my league. Nickel Creek is a great choice. Would love a chance to experience a system like this.

As the headline says "Michell Fremer reports" I was hoping (and expecting) to hear at least SOME commentary from Michael.
@TASmagazine12 сағат бұрын
Michael went to the launch and submitted this with the note “full coverage of the event with musical comparisons I think are audible even though wireless microphones!” We do these periodically and they often are summaries of the long launch presentations. In this case MF thought the presentations were clear. We have our strong doubts about the record and playback of in-room stereo signals over more mics, decimation, compression, amps and speakers, but there have been enough requests we wanted to offer this for the ‘stop talking and let me hear it’ audience. And DAC distortion is of a type where this might work. We have already done a short review of the Varese, so this seemed possibly additive. JH also has the Varese now for a full review.
@barrymiller338512 сағат бұрын
@TASmagazine OK. Thanks for replying. I guess I'm more from the "you're never going to hear fine detail via KZbin" school! I'd always rather hear the opinion of an experienced listener describing their impressions. Even if it's not a full review.

As much as he is likeable I think forever analog Fremer is better suited to reporting on his obsession with multi thousand dollar analog rigs playing on his improperly designed and ungainly Wilson behemoths :-) (I know . . . it's cruel to diss his beloved Darth Vader look alike speakers but don't ask me - ask Danny @ GR Research :-)

That was a 20yo speaker he worked on 😂 And his take on time alignment of the big dog was bizarre as those drivers can be tilted for time arrival to the listener given room size scenarios.
