OK! From what I have found, this song is about being in love but being in love in a depressive state. 'It's about finding the flaws in ourselves and finding the beauty in our partners. Moonlight is about learning to be ok and accepting ourselves bc that's what love allows us to do.' (this is a tweet I found on Matthew's Instagram) MMG stans I know this might be a little hard. But rewatch this video focus on the both of them and the love they have, look at the body langue they are sharing. This music video is absolutely beautiful and hits a deep spot for me, my ex and I just broke up and its bc I had my own flaws, and I could help but think she deserved better so I distant myself. Songs like this I appreciate so much bc they call me out on my bs and show me how actually loves works and how it's ok to have flaws bc your partner doesn't see your flaws they just see you and that's who they fell in love with. The symbolism and the acting is just beautiful.
