I've been following the Transformers Slag Podcast for nearly a decade, and even with as unhealthy of a Japan obsession as Protoman has, I had never heard of this band before, nor did I know that they somehow managed to get a Transformers figure redeco'd in their honor 5 years ago. Now, I'm simply flabbergasted that this band I have never heard of until about 1 week ago now will have 2 whole Transformers figures named after it for some inexplicable reason. Thankfully, both figures are reasonably lame because the redecos look atrocious on both, so I don't feel bad skipping over either of them.

Bump of Chicken Sonic Blue Bumble was from about 5 years ago, and the headmaster is supposed to be one of the band members as a headmaster (the faceplate was the Cerebros head). I believe you got a bit mistaken; since that was shown in the leaks channel as a reference to Bump of Chicken Bass Convoy. Also none of these crossovers that were shown at the Tokyo Toy Show are Hasbro releases. They're all Takara Tomy releases made by Takara Tomy and intended for Takara Tomy's Japanese and/or Asian market. Why does everyone make that mistake?

MMC Groove's face looks like the enemy soldiers in Metal Slug. I think it's charming. And I love both Groove and Streetwise's designs. I just happen to love things that are often considered overcompensating. Like a V-shaped head crest, ear cups, and ear antennae all in one design, aggressive-looking futuristic sports cars, and red, white, and gold that compete for the position of the majority color. This is why Velocitron Override is my dream robot design. What the heck is that Godzilla crossover? The dinosaur molds already exist and are the two of best official beastformers. Making Beast Megatron's body and tail longer isn't an issue at all, and Grimlock is already a fat Mecha Godzilla, the shoulder cannons won't even interfere in the transformation. I think they're just repaints because Toho's on Bandai's side and made the license too expensive for Takara Tomy to give extensive retooling to the crossover figures. Takara Tomy and Bandai's rivalry is not over even though their flagships occupy different markets. Bandai spans more markets, but they're getting bad with basically everything considered special thrown into P-Bandai, and way more egregious artificial rarity. At least the Takara Transformers figures are more widely avalable, especially since the successful brand unification during POTP. Here's the main difference between Takara Tomy and Bandai's flagships. Takara Tomy designs toys to be played with, and Bandai designs poseable statues that fall apart or break when you hold them a bit wrong. Initial D Drift is a cool idea. And it kinda fits his character, if not the robot mode design, he's supposed to be modest. Thing is, the robot mode might be 5 cm too big, it's as tall as my Optimus. The wait for a new Deluxe IDW Drift continues. I can tolerate Flame Toys Rodimus being big because he's normally a Voyager anyway. But Drift is just a normal carbot, it doesn't make sense for him to be as tall as Optimus Prime.

Whats funny about that godzilla is they couldve made a toy accurate grimlock head (godzilla head is way stubbier than that) and put it on him, replace the dino arms for thicker ones and add some foldablr cheap weapon that becomes the spine fins. I 100% agree with your opinion on Groove I don’t think motorcycles should be used for combiners at all, they’re too weak to be a leg and too small to be an arm, and it doesn’t make sense as a chest plate either.

I don't know if anybody has said this, but the godzilla collab is by takara, not hasbro. They are just optimus and megatron, who scanned godzilla and kiryu. If this was a hasbro crossover series, they would definitly get their own molds, or an extensive retool of one

I don't know that I believe that. Like I get they changed the ears, but that looks to be the EXACT same sculpt otherwise. And no, the Blue Bumblebee was just getting sent to me by people who were under the impression that it was new, and I'd never heard of it so I thought it was new too.
