What's the difference in meaning between "my friend and I will talk" and "my friend and I will be taking", If both of them are long actions?

The only difference is that there is a slight emphasis that the action is long and continuing for the future progressive tense. Since the meaning is so similar, most people just use the simple future for a sentence with only one action. The future progressive is only common when a short action will interrupt a long one or when two long actions will happen at the same time.
