I’ve been studying your podcasts on linq. Was looking for #19 on KZbin but couldn’t find. My comments are in regards to #19 sport and träning. I appreciate that podcast as I have regarded myself all my life as peculiar because I have never cared for sports. There seems to be so much more interesting things to do than to watch sports on tv and be happy or sad if your team won or lost. I like your short videos but would appreciate some time in between your statements to comprehend what you just said.

Kul att du använder LingQ! Jag älskar LingQ och använder det just nu för ryska. Om du behöver mer tid för att förstå är ett tips att pausa ibland, eller lyssna på samma passage flera gånger. Det är också bra att lyssna på samma avsnitt två gånger. Din hjärna kommer snart att bli snabbare på att förstå, och du kommer kunna lyssna på avsnitten i normal hastighet!

@@shieldofathens This is a very common issue for people with English as their first language since the word "that" is so general. One way to think of it is that "som" is quite close to "which". If you say in English "I need someone which can.." it's wrong but it doesn't sound too strange. But if you say "it will which become" it sounds like nonsense.
@swedishlinguist3083

@@shieldofathens Hey! This is one of the details that you will not learn by learning some rule. In Swedish there are some verbs that require 'att', some verbs where you'll never use 'att', and some where it's optional. I'd give the same advice as I give when people ask me about prepositions and many other aspects - don't try to learn it with rules, don't worry too much about it, don't be a perfectionist, just make sure you get lots of daily exposure to the Swedish language and you'll get a feel for it :)

@swedishlinguist3083
@swedishlinguist3083 5 жыл бұрын
"Nu ska vi se det" doesn't have the imperative. It means "now we're going to see it". "Låt oss se det nu" - here "låt" is an imperative - "Let us see it now". The imperative is simply the root of the verb, here's a comparison with present tense and imperative: säger :: säg! försöker :: försök! lever :: lev! jobbar :: jobba! studerar :: studera! pratar :: prata!

There are no rules for en/ett, you just have to learn it by heart unfortunately. However, this is not very important, and I would recommend to focus on other things, and whether it's 'en' or 'ett' you'll learn just by having lots and lots of input!

One thing about English: there is practically no difference between using "will" or "going to" to indicate future--they are 99% interchangeable: It will rain = it's going to rain... we'll be late = we're going to be late In very few cases is there a difference. In reality, the whole obsession about "intention" for going to is a waste of time...Don't worry about it.

Sorry but your comment makes me dizzy :D You really don't have to know any grammatical terms to learn a language. I could help, but only if you really like grammar. It's much better to learn with patterns and examples. One thing I could tell you is that we don't use any progressive tense for verbs. Jag pratade = I spoke / I was speaking Jag kommer att prata = I will speak / I will be speaking However, you could use it as an adjective sometimes: En pratande fågel = En fågel som pratar

Everything was making sense until the "Det ska regnar imorgon". There is not intention in this sentence. Perhaps ska is used not only when there is intention but also when the future action is more "deterministic"?
@Preeesco

Det är mitt problem också. Han sa först "det ska regna" och då "det kommer att regna" (5:46), så har jag inte förstått mycket
@swedishlinguist3083
@swedishlinguist3083 4 жыл бұрын
I agree that this is quite tricky! As Sebastian says here, it has to do with the fact that 'ska' is also used in the sense of 'supposed to'. So if you say "det ska regna imorgon", you mean it in the sense that "it's supposed to rain tomorrow" or "they say it's gonna rain tomorrow". It's more about what's supposed to be and less about future. It's in the same way that you can say "den filmen ska vara bra", which means something like "that movie is supposed to be good" or "I heard that movie is good". The word 'ska' can be used in many ways, not only when speaking about the future. It's a tricky one! I might do a video one day only about 'ska'..

@swedishlinguist3083
@swedishlinguist3083 Жыл бұрын
"Ska" is used for several things! When you're talking about that you "ska" do something, then it's usually about your intention. When you're talking about the weather or about a movie or something outside of yourself, then you're talking about what's "supposed to be". Den filmen ska vara bra = That movie is supposed to be good Det ska regna idag = It's supposed to rain today Du ska gå hem nu = You're supposed to go home now Note that when telling other people that they "ska" do something, it sounds a bit like a command. You can also use it in questions to give suggestions: Ska vi se en film idag? = Let's watch a movie today? (Shall we watch a movie today?)
