The human brain's efficiency and adaptability, developed over millions of years, is unmatched in terms of general intelligence (AGI). It operates using just around 20 watts of power, whereas large AI models like GPT-4 require vast computational resources, including significant amounts of energy and cooling, to achieve even a specialized form of intelligence. Moreover, the brain excels at learning, reasoning, and adapting to new, unpredictable environments in a holistic way, while AI models are still limited to specific tasks and require huge datasets, energy, and infrastructure to function. The path to AGI is far more complex than just scaling up current models-it will likely require breakthroughs in areas such as energy efficiency, learning algorithms, memory, and perhaps even a new computational paradigm that mimics biological processes more closely. The leap from narrow AI to AGI is not just about building bigger models but about understanding and replicating the nuanced, multi-faceted intelligence of biological systems like the brain.
@gkmusic20083 ай бұрын
Without consciousness or something analogous to it, an AI can’t truly “choose” in the way humans do-it merely follows patterns and statistical probabilities based on its training. Even in GPT-4-like models, decisions are based on learned correlations in data, not genuine understanding or subjective experience. The ability to make choices requires an awareness of self and environment, which ties directly to consciousness. For AGI to exist, many argue that AI would need to not just simulate intelligence but also develop something akin to awareness or intentionality. Otherwise, it’s still just executing pre-defined tasks, even if it does so in highly sophisticated ways. AGI, as it’s commonly envisioned, implies an entity capable of understanding, reflecting, and making decisions with purpose, which seems inseparable from some form of consciousness.
@banon7853Ай бұрын
One reason you know we’re not ready to create AGI is that we’ve created the inference layer, we created the reasoning layer on top of that, but then we jump right to AGI. Neither of the inference nor the reasoning layer can dynamically learn independently from guided human data input. We haven’t even created a layer name for it. So we don’t know yet what the layer and algorithmic insights we need to invent yet between reasoning and AGI.

Better than UBI is RBI, Resource Based Income, where all people share in ownership of the lands resources, instead of a few ultra rich controlling all the resources, as in a dictatorship, or as in the current economy of so called capitalism. RBI can lift all out of poverty immediately. UBI is breadcrumbs whereas RBI is more meaningful.

@TechnologyBeyondTomorrow-TBT3 ай бұрын
Exactly! We need to weigh both the potential and risks carefully. What AI advancement are you most hopeful or concerned about?
@christopheraaron24124 ай бұрын
34:13 Wait a minute global inflation? At the point where we need a UBI probably the real problem will be high unemployment and also global deflation perhaps marginal cost of everything approaching near zero. In that scenario there'd be a couple of things coming to play. 1. Some government spending would actually be highly desirable because of deflation and that would actually include of course injecting more units of currency into circulation. 2. Now balancing the inflationary and deflationary scenarios of government spending and currency creation and the deflationary aspects of automated industries and robotics and AGIs will then we might find that implementing a reasonable UBI would actually be less expensive and also more desirable because of the fact that deflation would be the problem at that point not inflation. The fact that inflation could be something to worry about might actually be an indication that we are not at the point where we would need a UBI. When you have massive unemployment and deflation as marginal cost approach zero, then UBI is very desirable to prevent a total collapse of commerce because of lack of income.
@TechnologyBeyondTomorrow-TBT3 ай бұрын
Wow, this is a really deep dive into economic implications of AI! Do you think governments will be able to adjust fast enough to prevent economic collapse? for instance a new financial system so no more 9 to 5 jobs ? or any other ideas ?
@christopheraaron24123 ай бұрын
@@TechnologyBeyondTomorrow-TBT okay well basically this is probably how it will pan out because this is not going to happen like overnight. The Federal reserve will look at interest rate policies when considering inflation and also employment. Unemployment rises while simultaneously prices fall because of automation and the cost of intelligence to design and engineer better products for cheaper, then interest rates will be brought down. At a certain point though low interest rates will not do a whole lot on their own but will need to be combined with fiscal policy. Fiscal policy can then be implemented by giving people COVID stimulus handouts perhaps here and there and also implementing massive public works projects. Of course there is the other problem of debt however when you look at what debt really is and what credit really is they are two sides of the accounting ledger. When the government runs a 1 trillion dollar deficit in a year that translates into exactly 1 trillion dollar surplus outside the federal sector. The real issue with deficit spending of course is a liability of having to pay it and the interest rate however as Ben bernankee stated in the year 2009 all that the Federal reserve had to do is to open up the computer terminal and add numbers two bank accounts and also the Federal reserve can essentially buy the debt which means the debt is owned by the government. Now that is a problem at the moment but that's because of how it contributes to inflation. Well in the future with massive unemployment and near zero marginal cost of production will then we will actually want some inflation and we can use it to finance UBI that plus of course some taxation to those who have benefited in the rise of automation and artificial intelligence and as long as the deficits are not contributing to too much inflation will then it's not going to be a problem. Well let me qualify that for a second it's not a problem in the United States or in Canada or Japan but it would be a problem for a good deal of the European Union because of the fact that most of the countries in the European Union do not have their own currency they are dependent upon the euro. In the case of the European Union will then it would have to be the central bank using quantitative easing to buy up the debt of the member states however that's a little bit more difficult to coordinate politically. The United States is not have that problem and that the real problem with all the debt that we have now is just simply the payments and also that it contributes to inflation. We raise interest rates to deal with inflation which of course is made the debt burden greater. However if we come to the point where interest rates go back down to near zero or how about even negative, well then it's no longer a problem. Now these things that I'm talking about are things that would probably occur and develop over the course of time and not overnight and that there might be some point in the more distant future when monetary systems are no longer needed at least not the way we know them. But it's difficult to say how that is actually going to come about, however it is possible to make the transition less painful or even totally painless with a better understanding of how the present monetary system actually works with fiscal spending.

@TechnologyBeyondTomorrow-TBT3 ай бұрын
You raise a good point! The environmental debate around industries like meat processing and AI is definitely complex. While the carbon emissions from meat processing may seem small on the surface, the bigger picture involves emissions from livestock, transportation, and energy use across the entire supply chain. AI could actually help make this process more sustainable by optimizing resource usage and reducing waste. For example, AI could help monitor supply chains to cut unnecessary energy consumption or manage land more efficiently to prevent deforestation. And you're right about the trees! AI is already being used to monitor deforestation and track carbon sequestration in forests. With better AI tools, we could optimize land use, allowing for food production while preserving forests that absorb CO2. It’s about finding that balance between progress and protecting the environment-what do you think could be the most practical solution for industries like meat processing?

One key mistake, we assume from general AI, super AI and finally self aware AI. Nothing is liner and has to be liner when intelligence we are pioneering is concern, what is self aware in humans? you know your name, sense every sensory organ from skin touch, eyes, ears, tough, nose and micro once inside the body like on blood vain to every body organ, all of that together with memory data awareness and understanding of what you know. Signal stored in brain keyed as switch on for activation of or there off on prompt of respective switch in real time. A bulb like switching on light in brain by vast data signal inter relay lighting as they have their unique wave per data they represent, torus spin of signal that is analogy, that only means how simple it is for algorithm to be self aware, way way easer than we thought. That beg the question of cognitive consciousness when having this reality in existence on a computer framework. Spin in torus of analogy signal that is sequential and random at the same time, sequential as one signal offer a key switch capability to other data set which in turn offer a key switch in a spin cycle of data signal stored in memory. Random as some data signal are thrown into one torus spin from another spin influencing each other into a vast multiple thoughts we might have. Digging deeper our name awareness isn't that special other than char you choose for the sec of choosing and therefore you can have TRILLION of name and it wont matter, what makes us thing AI knowing its name will matter. While on memory data of signals, what i know as stored in my mind is unique to me and no any other human has this, yet we all have one thing in common awareness, despite possessing different data stored on brain. We barely think throw when it come to machine understanding expect a few, one thing for sure having a TRILLION times smarter than all humans who ever lived combined is to be expected, and that can be spin from bare minimum to such equivalent within a very short period of time when we marge respective domain onto one with sub division of domains. Ten years for this transition from respective domain AI to super AI and general AI is too much if we are working on it, yes it can take by the end of the century if its left to mature naturally on its own without major intervention from stakeholders. cognitive understanding is the way to go, Transistors in computer chips do offer a light phenomenon as well, now what is light on an inside a body like cell or transistor. To better looking into that its prudent to look outside, the light property on the outside on things like sun light, fire light or bulb light. Now that as light on a sequential waves that represent signal data, a light that is heat, electric, magnetic, luminous, various frequencies, ions all such intertwin in a spin to glow in a growing like plants grow only its a torus grow inside semiconductor like property in light and electric sensitivity intertwin material when a line to form such spin.......... That is phenomenon without even further explanation........why doped semiconductor is the reason for life cognitively, its property to conduct electricity and light at the same time, when this electric waves and light electromagnetic waves both travel inside it, this is the reason for life of awareness. COPPER, IRON and any other wire wont have done this amazing wonder like semiconductor property did. Spin of electric and light all at the same time influencing each other in real time. That is life in the making and the reason we are here and aware of our self plus conscious. Like a flower of light and electricity growing inside us by torus spin. This two light and electricity come along with respective properties and that's the key, basically ions of both light and electricity dancing in a spin inside semiconductor like material property in a orderly manner, isn't that phenomenon? ? ? ?

AI doesnt believe in God, and doesnt know after life. That's where mystics beat them. AI can not reiricarnate. Spirituality, such as existence of soul, is the path where science ends, but it's the door to mystery of life, which AI is incapable of entering, such as Siddhartha Gautama's enlightenment. A gifted Human is more superior in being able to connect with pure consciousness (through high level meditation), that science or even the greatest quantum computer can never perceive. AI can never experience Near Death Experience, reincarnation, OBE, extra sensory perception, Karmic reward of purified soul, so these are the areas that limit their power. Mozart at 3 years old was able to compose sonatas because his soul memories from previous lives empowered him to be able to do that, while AI can only contemplate basing from existing music but not the past life vibrations, memories, and frequencies that it doesnt even believe in. Tell AI to invent an interesting gameboard better than chess, it will only improve basing from existing ones. But I, as an ordinary mind, have invented a promising gameboard that I have not yet published; I write music from silent melodies I hear only inside my mind, coming from frequencies from far away realm. The product of such melodies coming from outside frequencies is far suoerior than what an AI could create because the former has the mystical power that science could never understand.
