Re. Off road They actually do have an off road option. I placed my off road order which has all wheel drive and more ground clearance. I live in Canada, it gets very cold and lots of snow in winter so I need the extra traction of all wheel drive and extra ground clearance.

I want the meds you're on. I haven't seen so much halftruths, outdated and not confirmed information in one place. It's true that the makers are making an offroad version but that is only for surfaces such as in 2:34 . 3 wheels and not enough clearance severly limits the Aptera, 3 wheels are lacking 25% of the grip of a 4 wheeler. The suspension won't have enough travel and you're going to have a hard time with the rear wheel on trails because the tracks are made by 2 side by side wheels. I don't understand why so many customers want to make a cheap alternative into an expensive jack of all trades vehicle that has to be able to go off road, tow and power half a trailer park. Just the weight alone will limit what the APtera is going to be able to tow, that's physics.

Greater ground clearance is necessary in areas with snow. I live in Connecticut and it is not uncommon to get snow 6-12 inches in a single storm. Cars with average ground clearance often have trouble getting around here especially in hilly sections.

The fenders will not survive our Michigan weather. Ice build up in fenders, deep pot holes, ice coating in morning, sub zero temps. I drive a Tesla Model 3 and that has challenges in the winter.

There are some difference. A conventional car has large wheel wells that can accumulate hig amount of frozen sludge when driving in the snow. While the spinning tires melt a gap the via friction the wheels move up and down in the wheel wel and turn when you steer. If you drive home in a blizzard and park outside overnight you are likely to have to use a hammer and chisel to free up at least your front wheels the next morning. With the Aptera the tire moves up and down and turns with the wheel pants. There is only a small gap between the tire and the inside of the wheel pant. The friction of the tire against any frozen crud build up will melt a gap and the tire will spin. The tires also turn with the wheel pants. If the crud freezes solid over night the wheel motors have enough torque to break them free. The rear wheel might be more of an issue because I believe it will move up and down in its wheel well. An overnight freeze might prevent it from traveling up and down. But the wheel opening even on the rear wheel is not a cavernous wheel well.

@markbajek2541 I drove in New England Winters for 4 decades with a lot of different vehicles. Our Nor'easters rank up there with some of the worst winters storms in the country and our pot holes are notorious. I drove a little Fiat 850 spider through a couple of winters. You couldn't get much lower to the ground than that. It did fine. I think adding the off road package with its added clearance will work if you are that worried about pot holes. I'm up in the PNW and don't know if I'll go with the off road package or not. I don't need it out here but I may return "home" in a few years.

Some how doing any rock climbing with a vehicle with an aluminum belly pan that provide skin cooling for the heavy lithium-ion battery pack and the active cooling on the inside including coolant lines going to/from the wheel motors seem improbable. Nobody knows if they were that strong, but it doesn't matter now; the new CPC CF is a different material, and they still say it's seven times stronger. However, since changing to CF, they have added a steel roll cage and a metal type of subframe the originals didn't have, which indicates the CF is weaker than steel. Why would you add steel, otherwise?
