Wish you showed how to set the depth of the router, and how deep to cut. My install kit didn't come with instructions.

Hey man just wanted to thank you for explaining the purpose of that black pin. Makes setting the guides on the template easy. It got separated from my kit and every time I ran across it in my shop, I couldn’t remember where It came from and what its purpose was. I am assuming that you could use the same pin to set the guides for installation of a standard Bahne box as well? I have a template that I got years ago that looks just like the Futures Jig. I have it set for Bahne boxes. Used to see those jigs around glass shops out here on the West Coast all the time. They stopped making them. Everybody went to plastic jigs and a beating. Don’t know who manufactured those jigs. Always assumed it was Bahne. They were the same as the Futures Jig. An aluminum plate with a slot and four pieces of angle aluminum. Thanks for the tutorial. I was worried that jig could move if you weren't real careful not to bumb it with the router. Have you got a video for standard future boxes instilation for thruster or 5 fin? Thanks.

Troy Robinson yes we do, it’s one of our earlier video. Check it out!

if you are doing a resin swirl would you route the box after glassing like typical future boxes? how would you go about this?
@FiberglassFlorida4 жыл бұрын
When doing resin swirls you would treat that glassing process just like the normal glassing process. All of the steps you take for fin boxes should remain the same.

If I wanted my boxes to remain white, black or whatever color I bought from Futures, I would install them post lamination. The look is much cleaner. If it’s a longboard I would use a Bahne box and sink it after the lam or after the hot coat. For the small Futures; Do them post lam. A lot of guys do this using the old “Two Step” jig and collar. Cleaner and less likely to tear or damage the tinted lam at The cut for the flange. Then of course you will have to put a football patch over the boxes. I don’t think I have ever seen a video of anyone doing a post lam install this way, but that’s my preferred method on tinted or opaque resin boards. And I have heard others say they do the same. @FiberglassFlorida4 жыл бұрын
Jesse Kramer you should check out our shaping video! There should be a few other videos on KZbin about shaping. Some people even host classes on shaping.

I’ll definitely check those out, and I’ve asked all the shapers around and they are either wayyyy to expensive or they just don’t do it

Is Futures one shot install kit just for center boxes (or also for 6" Future boxes)?
@FiberglassFlorida4 жыл бұрын
just for the center fin, typically used for longer boards.

You also have to use a different router :(

hi everyone, I have a question that might sound stupid, but I just got a 8" futures single fin, Can I put it on a 10,75" futures fin box ?? Or Do I have to put my single fin on an 8" box ?

Will work on any box as long as the base isn't longer than the box
