I've only in the last 5 years with amazon had one driver leave the package on the outside doorstep (throw it down on the step as the camera picked up) on a very wet day. No attempt to ring bell or knock. He wasn't even using his computer on van right. The app didn't show info for hours. It was easy to return damaged items, though. It's easy to order items for when you're home. the app is good at tracking to the minute. All others knock and ring bell. If, for some reason ( delivery day late, happens sometimes ), I'm not home, they followed instructions, letter on door to open outer porch and leave package inside infront of cameras. If that one driver got into trouble for throwing down the package in the rain outside without knocking or ringing bell. If he got into trouble, it was his own fault.

I stayed away from home for 6 years and suddenly I find amazon packages left at the door. I ask my mother and she just says: Oh, yeah. They just leave it there now. I was a bit shocked the following times when she asked me to go grab them. No knock, no doorbell ring, just a notification on her phone with a picture. Luckily, we live in a safe small town in Japan, but after having to watch my back every single second for 6 years, living abroad, I couldn't understand how that practice kept being the norm.

Amazon does a bunch of scans against its sellers as well. Down too my credit card numbers being stolen off the platform for someone to use it for amazon purchases. The crap u deal with when working for "amazon" lol
