@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Given the lightweight of the scooter, the power cord + battery brick is easily taken to work as well. Thus, a 12-14 mile commute is totally doable if you bring your charger and recharge it at work. We received ours just a few days ago, and I noted the charging port (USB) is just as well designed as the kick stand and the other cool features.

Just got on one. I'm on the monthly subscription plan. It's very nice, it's sleek, light, and pretty fast for a beginner like me. The range is very short though. It died after just a few miles of riding. Keep in mind I'm 250 and I was using it on dual motor, but still I think a scooter for $1000 could go a little further. I'll be sending it back and getting the emove cruiser when they have them in stock again because for $300 more than the Unagi it comes with much more imo. The Unagi is nice for short rides but if you want something rugged that goes for long rides I suggest looking into something with bigger tires, a fuller suspension, and a bigger battery

I was looking for a $1,000+ scooter and I was considering the Unagi. It was cool in all but the specs didn't look promising. Only 19 mph and the low 8.3 mile range was disappointing. I ended up spending 100 bucks more for Mantis 8 base dual motor. Twice the weight of the unagi but since I didn't have to go up and down stairs or put it in a car that often, it was perfect for me. 25-30 mph with a good range of 25 miles it was a great choice and a bargain.

Hi Chuck, very intuitive review, well done! I currently have the E500 and didn’t ride it much and just recently started and put over 100 miles. Also, I’m really beginning to enjoy the extra speed “Ludicrous Mode” unlocking the speedster. However, I’ve noticed that my stem has a lot of play and you mentioned you have tightened it. Any chance you can point me out how I can get it done myself. Would really appreciate it. Thank you
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, There is a small allen bolt at the back of the stem at the base, in the latch area. Basically if you look at the middle of the deck and then make a straight line up the middle, and keep heading north until you hit your first fastener, that's the one. You can gently tighten that one to take up some of the slack in the latch. Careful though. It's easy to tighten it so much that you can't unlatch the stem. If you never plan to fold it, you can actually snug it right up and take out all of the slack, but I don't recommend that. There will always be a little bit of wiggle in this design. On all scooters, spreading out your feet on the deck and actively shifting your weight around to keep your balance will also help reduce the feel of stem flex. It makes everything about the scooter work better too. -Paul the other bald guy :-)

The Unagi ES500 (dual motor) scooter is TERRIBLE compared to my Xiaomi. Forgetting the price difference of Xiaomi costing a fraction of the Unagi. The only plus on it is that it climbs hills much better than the Xiaomi. The minuses are (1) feels much heavier than Xiaomi, (2) very rough ride to the point of unbearable when going on NYC roads (Xiaomi doesn’t have suspension but its inflated tires absorb most small cracks in the road), (3) no cruise control (in a $1000 scooter?), (4) no drum brake? (I really like Xiaomi’s dual braking feature when it activates both electronic & drum brake when you press the drum brake). The “no cruise control” and the “real rough ride” is a deal breaker for me so I’m returning it after 1 day of commuting with it. I’m going to look at UScooter GT/TWOW - everyone keeps raving about it! I’m really looking for a Xiaomi that would fly up hills like the Unagi and be as light as possible.

I recently got one of these. Went into my local JB, and there was one on clearance. RRP was AUD$1,399 but it was marked down to AUD$350. Probably the best impulse purchase I've ever had. Ridden it to work twice on speed 3, but now that I know about the secret speed increase, I can't wait to give it some real world testing. I might chuck some locktite on the screws if I notice them getting loose.

Take what manufacturers say max weight limit is with a pinch of salt. Scoots are tough and will support you but you will not get advertised range on it just not possible. Take what they quote and half it straight away. Then give take ~ couple of miles of that value as your irl usage utilising high speed mode depending on your local hills/terrain.

UNAGI SCOOTER RENT/MEMBERSHIP REVIEW I was super exited about this one but i didn't expect it to be a disappointment because there are so many amazing reviews on it and most of them are not being paid to give a good review. Since they have no place to review it on their official page, i'm sharing my thought with you here. So if you are like me, looking for the right/perfect scooter, i think you need to read this. So the cool thing about this scooter is that you can either rent it for 40 buck a month or buy it for 990. The membership is too high in my opinion, that’s where they actually get you with that “one-time registration” of 50 dollars!! But fine, at least you get to try it out and rent it before you go spending a 1000 for a scooter you might not like. So the delivery was super fast, that was a nice surprise. Once i registered I received an email asking me to pick the time of delivery for the following day (options were between 10-2pm or 2-6pm). The next day i received a link where you can see the driver’s location in real time. That was a cool thing and who doesn’t love a 24hr delivery, right?! It seemed promising so far! But, ehh not really.. The driver arrived and handed me the scooter (out of it’s box) the charger and cable. No manuals, no instructions or booklet, nothing. So i called customer services just to make sure that i am not missing any paperwork or instructions, but there was no one to speak to, instead you could leave a voice message, your phone number and name and the reason you are calling AAAND if it is urgent you can email them. LOL really? Email for help? what if it were an emergency??So, their customer service is non existing, so that was very disappointing as i had to go back online and read about instructions. So first let’s start now with the things i liked about it: The design of the scooter looks sleek, modern and sexy, so yes it is pretty. It is a little bit lighter than other scooters of similar specs (no wonder there are a lot girls riding it), it is suuuper quiet (if you like that) although ppl sometimes get stunned when they see me ride past them as i appear like a ghost all of a sudden. And the one-click fold works great, so unfolding is effortless. There are 3 speeds, and you have the option of turning on the dual motor function, so those rides up the hill are effortless. Now sadly i do have more things that i disliked about it..And i was so hoping and really wanted this this one to be THE best scooter for me. First of all, whoever said this scooter was a smooth ride must have been drunk! For those who are not familiar, the tires on this scooter are “made of solid rubber and puncture proof, so they’ll never foil your morning commute.” I’m guessing they were scaling between ‘Would you rather never get a flat tire? or would you rather have a nice, enjoyable, smooth ride??’ Honestly, i would now pick a flat tire once in a blue moon than a super rough, bumby, and unpleasant ride every day! I kid you not, the ride is so damn bumpy that i started having headaches every time i would ride it. Because the tires are so hard, you feel every single crack, bump and rock on the road, all the way from your jaw to your forehead! So annoying! So i would constantly have to watch and focus on the ground, avoiding any cracks and bumps and the continues vibrations from them made me feel tense while driving and it kills the fun of it. It definitely did not make the ride enjoyable. Recently i even fell because i thought it could cross a thin hose on the street, even though i lowered the speed. Now on top of everything i don’t feel as safe on it. Even my partner who has an amazing scooter (no i will not mention the brand name, but if you ask i will tell you) and he tried it and said it truly is a rough ride. His scooter btw is so smooth on the road as if you are riding on butter! Also there is no cruise control, which i think they need to incorporate as you have to keep your right hand on the accelerator non stop, and if you need to fix your mask or glasses (i’m a righty) good luck if you hit a bump! But at least now i know exactly what i am looking for in a scooter. So i will not be extending my membership after all, even after only a month of using it. I guess the good thing about it all is that you can rent it and see for yourself. But i would not recommend it, in all honesty. Best of luck and if you do, wear a helmet!!! Pros: fast delivery / lighter than other scooters with similar specs/ super quiet / one-click easy unfold / emergency manual back brake Cons: came with no manual or instructions / tires too hard, terribly bumpy, definitely NOT A SMOOTH RIDE/ no cruise control / doesn’t not show how many miles you have left, only the battery bars / glossy finish (looks a bit cheap in my opinion, i think a matte finish would be sexier).

Not only will you feel every single small crack, grout in the pavement or uneven roadway but I’d venture to say you will probably walk away with some sort of traumatic brain injury. I road this today from Downtown Brooklyn to my apartment which is only 2 miles and when I finished, I needed to take a Tylenol. This has 0 shock absorption and it can sometime literally hurt your hands, feet and head feeling all those bumps. I live in NYC where roads are grossly bad. This scooter is definitely not supported by NYC roads, at all. In this price range, better weight range with better mileage and better shock absorption, I’d recommend the Apollo City. The Unagi simply is not a comfortable ride on these rough streets. I truly look forward to their newer models where such problems are addressed.

Hi there! Sorry to hear that. Our scooters are designed for portability, efficiency, and street style. Not for off-roading or for handling bumps in the road the way a much bigger and heavier scooter would!

you can't while riding because it requires holding down brake and accelerator...... why would you want to change it while riding?

I’m torn between this and the M365 Pro. This looks better but I like the distance and the brakes better on the Pro. But the Unagi looks so stinking good

Get the M365 Pro 1/2 the price of this....trust me. The Unagi is all style no substance plus for the price you can get better, much better, like the ETWOW GT 2020. I like it too but this is like a luxury purchase like a richman buys a 2nd Ferrari. If you need a reliable commuter scoot get the 365 over this, tons of spare parts, accessories, mods and cfw. Only buy this if you've already got a commute scoot and want a stylish looker in your scoot garage.
