With 7.5" solid tires, it's not likely to ride well on anything but perfect surfaces. Perhaps the E-TWOW with its suspension and high build quality would be a better choice. But there's no arguing that the Unagi is a looker. Though I would not call it 'the Tesla of scooters' because it's too slow for that.
@Andrew-vt4jt3 жыл бұрын
You are correct! With the 7.5 honeycomb solid tires, the scooter is only designed for ideal smooth pavement conditions with minor imperfections. We are supposed to be receiving the newest E-TWOW to review. The E-TWOW suggest it's for street riding and not off-road conditions. E-TWOW was even worried to send it to us in Denver because they do not want to promote riding in snowy and icy conditions. However, as you can see from the video we have had an extremely mild winter with no snow sticking around. Thanks for the recommendation!
@arevee94293 жыл бұрын
@@Andrew-vt4jt Yes, E-TWOW (which I have) is absolutely not for off-road or even wet conditions, but it manages adequately on less than perfect paved surfaces. And the build quality is great. It might even have an IP rating. I am in the process of selling my house and packed up a lot of stuff and put it in storage. The E-TWOW was one of the things and I am already regretting the decision to store it.

Another great one Jimmy and Andrew. I have an Unagi 500. Great review guys but you did miss one of the Unagi's best aspects. That sucka eats hills! Probably(almost definitely) better than any other scooter in its weight class and higher. I agree with Andrew, one of its most underrated features is that really bright headlight. However there are some obvious deficiencies; like you guys said the range is less then average. When you ride over a nickel you can tell if its heads or tails up due to the solid tires and lack of suspension. With that lack of suspension and the solid tires comes the dreaded STEM WOBBLE which grew worse over time and I was never able to find a screw I could tighten to alleviate the problem. I eventually had to send my first model back and wait a looooong time for a replacement model which was a refurbished model. The refurbished model was definitely "well worn" and made a lot more noise then my original and it wasn't red like my original :( I rode the replacement once and haven't touched it since. I would suggest going with the subscription if you really wanted to get a Unagi. I'm sticking with my Uscooters GT 2020. Three more pounds but a lot more power, range and suspension. Keep up the great work guys.
@gotscooter7813 жыл бұрын
Antt Mann we should have had you review this scooter with us, because your information is spot on. The dual motors on the lightweight Unagi eats hills way better than scooters twice it's weight. The solid tires are not comfortable like air tires, but I did find them to be better than most solid tires I've tried. I've never heard about this stem wobble issue and surprised there wasn't an easy fix for it. Glad they replaced it but unfortunate that the replacement was nosier. You should try reaching out to them and let them know that it was well worn and noisy, I would hope they would replace it. We are supposed to receive the Uscooter GT 2020 for review, so I'm excited that you like it. I was impressed that it was only 3 pounds more and offered such robust specs and suspension. Sincere question: Did you pay for this scooter with your own money? I’m asking because, in all honesty, this “review” seemed a bit suspect from the get-go. For example, most owners of the Unagi scooter claim the lack of suspension is more than a minor issue. They also often say that - for the cost - the range is bloody awful. On Reddit I’ve seen several actual owners of this scooter express disappointment, with many claiming that - for the money - the E-Twow GT is pretty clearly a better buy in this class of scooter. If this was either a free or T&E (test and evaluation) scooter, don’t you think that’s something viewers deserve to know? The FTC does. In fact, the FTC sorta requires such disclosures. I like your reviews Jimmy. But it really does create credibility problems - both for you AND Unagi - when you review a scooter you didn’t pay for and don’t mention that minor little detail. If I’m wrong and you did pay for this scooter, please let me know and I will both apologize and remove my comment. Otherwise, I think this callout is both 100% fair and 100% deserved.

Thanks for the video! I have ridden the Unagi and would definitely not pick it over quite a few other ultra portables. There is no way I would take it over a Zero 8. The E-Twow GT is far superior to it in ride quality and has folding handlebars and has a drum brake now to supplement the electronic and stomp brakes. For me the lack of folding handlebars is a big problem for an ultra portable that has to sometimes fit in very tight spaces in buses, trains and trunks. I used my E-Twows to bridge the distance from my house to the BART train station and from the BART train station to my work. The Unagi would not have had the range to finish one leg of the trip. I ride with a lot of very experienced scooter folks and a couple of them have had Unagis that they no longer have or ride. Once you have ridden other scooters the Unagi just falls short in many of the categories people find important. Apollo is coming out with a $500-$700 scooter that should be much better than the Unagi from everything I have been hearing. I also own an Inokim Light 2 scooter and that is a much better ultra portable for pretty much the same price. Aesthetics are always subjective but I find the Inokim Light 2 a much better looking scooter. If you rode the Inokim Light 2 and then an Unagi I would find it difficult to think you would even consider the Unagi. I do like the presentation and packaging of the Unagi but falls short in so many much more important things.

Totally missed the point of this scooter. This is for people who aren't gonna be arsed to change a tire when it inevitably punctures (unlike these ones...), and are definitely not going to be screwing around with removing brake pads once they're worn. It's all fun and games with other scooters until you have to do maintenance on them. These tires and the fact it has electronic brakes removes 90% of maintenance concerns. THAT is why they call this the "iPhone" of scooters. And also because it's overpriced. The one good point is about the lacklustre range, but, again, this scooter is for a very specific use, getting you from A to (a close by...) B.

@@mehmetkaya4896 Well I just sent it back. The build quality is great, the dual motors are very quick, and it is very light which made it easy to carry up to my apartment. But those 7.5" solid tires and no suspension ruin it. I felt every sidewalk crack, and the slightly "rough" road going through my work's campus gave me a brain massage. It's also not very stable because of the short handlebars and short wheel base. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy one, but if the roads/paths in your area are smooth, it's a good rental for a few months. But at my weight (220ish lbs fully clothed with a backpack) the only scooters that would work for me cost around $1000, around the same as an ebike.
