I totally understand your passion for these cars and it’s great to see the younger generation also enjoying them! I love my 1999 Japanese export model in Wedgwood Blue with Neptune personal line leather interior. Can’t fault it for comfort and style and that KV6 howl on full throttle is to die for! Keep up the good work.

Tom - another awesome video! I first saw the Rover 75 in London when I was visiting from Sydney in 2001. I SO SO wanted one, but on checking the price of them when I got back to Sydney, they were AUD$80,000+ at the time a little out of my price range. I bought one 2 years ago with 55,000kms on the clock for AUD$6500. Love it! And yes, those C pillar badges are just the best!

I'm glad you still like it .After watching your first video on your 75 I went out and bought one it's a 2003 2.5 Connie saloon in royal blue .First thing I did was to get the timing belts done which cost almost as much as the car. It's the best car ever had it's never let me down (touch wood).

I know what you mean about a car falling out of favour when it breaks down and gets mothballed. Glad you have regained your interest in it. I'm on my 3rd, a facelift diesel auto and I can vouch for all the issues you raise! Mine had a great deal of work done by the previous owner which was great. I didn't know about the central plenum drain, good tip. You must try a Cavalier though, I'm on my 2nd this year, a Turbo Diesel with the Isuzu engine. Its really easy to work on, I think you need only about 2 or 3 sizes of spanners and a few screwdrivers to fix anything on it! I hope you get the Vitesse fixed, I cant bring myself to watch that video yet :(

Where I live, these start from about 1500€ and the v6 models go for about 3k-5k. I'm still planning on buying one though.

Great video Tom. My 75 is around the same age as yours and I've had it now nearly 10 years. As you rightly say Crank pulleys have been the bain of my car to, rear number plate light issues and broken springs have also been replaced many times. The sills decided to let go last year and was on the verge of letting the car go to its maker, but I just couldn't part with it. The car still looked stunning apart from the frilly sills and decided to bite the bullet and get them replaced. Nodoubt I have spend more money on the car than what it's worth, but I'm glad I've done so, because it's been an absolute pleasure to drive and looks timeless. As you say these cars are starting to appreciate in value as they get thinner on the ground, and will soon become a modern classic. Well done you for sticking with it 👍👍👍👍

My 75 1.8 Turbo is currently parked up as it’s waiting on a new starter motor, I’m not sure if I’ll replace the solenoid and it’s cable while charging the motor as it’s not a dear fix. Your car is very nice, yes the tailgate gaskets can flood the boot and interior if not known about, I changed mine a few years ago. I’m overdue for my cars belt’s changing, I’m gonna look into those xenon lights as the look great, also the new style tail lights look nice.

Nice little tour Tom, on cheap executive cats the Lexus LS400 used to be a bargain, I paid 500 quid for mine six years ago. It's never missed a beat apart from one knock sensor failure last year.

Nice and accurate info @Tom! Much appreciated 🙏 I have a small project myself on a 2001 Rover 75, so if you're up for it, maybe you can make that pre-project faster than you think, just let me know 😁

Great video and a lovely car. I had 2 diesels and a KV6 2.5 they are wonderful in so many ways but I must say all the problems you mention plus the coolant issues with the V6 means you need fairly deep pockets to run them. There is a plenum mod which allows quick and easy rodding of the centre drain without having to take off the covers every time., Front and rear springs, body water leaks, coolant issues, door trim, rusty cills and more will keep you interested but that's the price for falling in love .😍xx

Since 2010 i have spent £13,000 on mine not counting labour, but nearly everything has been replaced in suspension, brake system, new front and rear bearings, new starter, alternator, radiator, condenser, lub oil cooler, front sub frame, ( rear ordered) i don’t wait till things brake down car is 18 years old so i last three years i started replacing things. Bit pissed off now because roof lining coming down and drivers seat bolster has gone.

Lovely example. Note that you haven't put back on the original shape rear plates, I got mine from Demon Plates for a fair price. Make sure to buy both front and rear or the bloke you (eventually) sell it to will think it's been in a shunt. The plates are only a small thing but they make people stop and stare at the car as it's really only this car and some of the old Jags that have an interesting plate design.

Great video again. Well these Rovers are like any other premium car of a similar age: you don't do the proper maintenance, you get f***ed. I've had old BMWs and my 75 2,5 V6 Crown, none of them gave me too much trouble granted the maintenance wasn't neglected. Except for that auto tranny cooler blow off, I had that too.

Almost certain they'll write it off but you'll be able to buy it back cheap and fix it yourself, might got written off for a small dent in the wing, they said it would cost £800 in labour and £200 for a wing to fix. I found a wing in colour for £60 bought it back for £250 and got £1250 payout.

I thought you loved your fiat coupe. Your rover 800 could be used and mot’d without a cat because of it’s age my Alfa 155 is a 94 and goes though a mot without a cat each year. I trained as a mechanic at a Austin Rover dealership in the late 80’s. I got myself a rover 216 vdp like I had in the 90’s last year had been looking for the right spec one for years.

That’s my favourite car but it’s not the best of them all, the 75 is the best. My 800 is probably going to get a whole new system on it without a CAT as you said it can be MOTd without. Nice 216, SD3 I assume? Amazing cars and one of my favourites
