Laura, I make zero from my little farm lol. I don't raise meat but I do raise rabbits (for fertilizer) and chickens (for eggs). There are compassionate farmers, contrary to popular belief. I plan on adding goats (milk)/sheep (wool) in the future. The only money I have ever made from anything farm related was some jewelry I sold at my aunt's yard sale. :-/ I will tell you one thing, it's possible to make money and I plan on making money in the future. Homesteading/farming isn't just animals. You can make crafts, jewlry, art, goat milk soap, all kinds of things. Farming isn't just meat, it's other things too. I'm personally a vegitarian. I'm also a farmer. I plan on adding aquaponics (raising veggies using fish) next year aswell.

J Baldwin I’ve been failing and feeling guilty about it 😞 It’s so easy for some people to give it up. I’m still trying
@ijustwanttosleepnow4 жыл бұрын
Sir Scribe be patient with yourself. It’s not easy, just remember to be kind to yourself and try to make it a positive process. Keep in mind that fat is an addictive substance, just like salt and sugar. It’s really difficult at first to give it up since you will be craving it. I promise you though, the cravings do get better after a while. You’ll have the odd craving over the years, but they become less and less. I haven’t had cravings in over a decade, but I’ve conditioned my brain to find it quiet gross haha, it easier to be appalled when you recognize when you see meat what it use to be, how it wanted to live, and the trauma it probably faced because it’s served as food. Having that mental connection will make it easier. Just remind yourself that you’d rather have them live a happy life and eat something that will fuel your body positively. Everyone is different and maybe cold turkey isn’t the way to go. You could set certain days of the week where you can eat meat, like fri, sat and sun are meat days and the rest of the week are none. Then work to cut it down over the months down to two days, down to one, then couple times a month, then none. I was a kid when I became a vegetarian, so I ate only hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken fingers. Then just two of them, and then just hamburgers. At that point someone asked me why I don’t just become a vegetarian and I was like yeah, that makes sense to me and I cut out that last one. Every one is different and you’ll find what works for you. It took me a while to become a vegan, but that happened after I become more involved in animal welfare and understood the food industry better. I would recommend coming back to these videos every time you need a pick me up in encouragement to keep going. You can also always reply here and I’ll respond too. Sometimes volunteering for an animal welfare organization also keeps you connected with the message. Check out websites like my new roots and minimalist baker for delicious and healthy recipe ideas. If you need any info on nutrition and replacing nutrients in meat from other sources let me know as I can help with that too! Just remember, you got this!

I'm nursing an abandoned lamb right now I'm curious how they managed to keep Flick and the house so clean. We've had a lot of bathroom mishaps. I've been feeding her outside as much as possible and letting her get her jollies out, but it's still cold at night where I am. We've got a tarp down to protect the kitchen floor but she likes to spread the love around if you know what I mean. I don't want to bathe her too often, though, because stripping the lanolin from her skin and wool seems like a terrible idea. Our baby is under a week old and still fits in a cat sweater. It has a sparkly unicorn on it and she loves it. Love to see this bumr thriving :)

Try diapers?
@iesika73874 жыл бұрын
@@littlegirlblue9829 We did. Diapers and wooly butts don't mix. Or they do mix, which is the problem. Now that our girl is a bit older and things are a bit more solid it's gotten easier, and we've learned when she's most likely to let go (especially right after a meal or right after a nap). All the fun of training a puppy with none of the actual progress or retention! But I love her!
@snakesonaframe26684 жыл бұрын
@@iesika7387 they had him in a playpen in one of the clips, maybe that's where he stayed when not supervised and they had a tarp on there? That's what I would do. She'd still have space to walk around, but it would keep any mess contained and easier to clean up.

Lambs are the sweetest and raising a bottle lamb is alot of work but worth it. Feeding schedules are rigid in the beginning and their poo is like tar and so hard to keep clean. They have so many silly antics that make up for the scrubbing and lack of sleep though lol Watching them learn and play outside is such a joy!
