Searched to find info on fuzzy logic for my final year option and find a video made by someone at my university on it! Very cool indeed, think I choose the right university and options...

Great vid. Came to find out exactly what Fuzzy Logic is and I got my answer. Today was the first time I had heard about Fuzzy Logic and I could easily break it down someone who just as clueless as I was. Not that I'm now calling my self an expert.

When you say "All players are tall to a certain degree" I am confused, is this a degree based on the tallest object in the set, the object being 1.00 tall? or is it based on a value which you consider 'Tall' for example 6ft being 1.00 on the scale, meaning people can potentially go over 1.00 if they are over 6 foot?
@Cyzicos19 жыл бұрын
DromeG60 It's a degree. The video is a bit confusing. Actually you have different sets: The short guys set, the medium guys set and the tall guys set. Every player belongs to all of these sets to a different value. One of the guys left for example would belong to short 0.8 , middle 0.2 and 0 to tall. So the tallest player small:0 medium:0 and tall:1. You can't belong more than 1 to a set. He later uses these sets in his rules, so he should have explained them.

+Cyzicos1 i can see that categories are defined in certain ranges, and objects defined relating to certain values , but where is the fuzzy logic in it? it is just plain logic of adding a certain value to something in proportion it has to a number. in the end you always have aristotel or boolean logic , maybe only applied with tolerance over the certain range of values. For example : water is warm if it is between 30-40 degrees celsius. Of course it is warm even around 29.90 or 29.89 too, it is not easy to give crisp values as it is not measured by a machine but by a human being and even to the same human what was warm one day will not be warm on the other day. So, do you want to say that fuzzy logic is the allowance of the certain range around the max and min values. ok, but how can that be applied to computing when computers simply have to make decisions? Using complete randomness but still within certain ranges? Randomness is not logical process, it is just random decision, and how random it is, will be determined by the randomness algorithms. If fuzzy logic is all about defining the varying limes values around max and min values of the certain range, then it is all about making random decisions, maybe based on certain (changing) parameters, but still just random to a certain level? is it really fuzzy then or we can call it "semi-moderated" random logic?

Fuzzy Logic is not Fuzzy at all. It is logical probability which is inductive logic verses deductive logic. Really not fuzzy at all.
@4rsh4dk4m4l110 жыл бұрын
It's considered fuzzy because it doesn't use a traditional binary set: True (0) or False (1). It uses a truth value that ranges between 0 and 1.

@Gentmatable7 жыл бұрын
i dont see anything fuzzy at all . its is still true or false with Switch statements / if else statements . Easing in , easing out . its still using probability / 0 1 0 1 0 1 there is nth in life fuzzy. Anyway thank you for explaining it ! they told me about fuzzy logic in computer world and i was like wow whats that ! just to realise its bullshit :D
