I remember going to the after school daycare and seeing two guys older than me playing it on the places' PS1 and they started from scratch and got Tyranomon and was like "aaaaw maan" and I simply couldn't understand them because He looked awesome and I only ever got Numemon or Sukamon, but they said he was bad because he eats too mucg

That intro made me want a Wallpaper Engine version of File City. There's one version right now on Steam but it's based on fanart instead of actual PS1 assets.

I too own the game and really found it frustrating at times and never completed it. for its time it was very good game with the details was very good with the limitations of the Playstation. Great video really enjoyed it. well done :)

That Monzaemon suit was the saving grace of this game. Without it I would have never made any progress.

I remember collecting shit tons of digimon cards, trading them for merit points, and using those points to buy a ton of chips. I then went and got myself a phoenixmon, fed it chips until it had max stats in everything while also feeding it black sea bass, and then just kind of rolling over the final boss....

For the time it was out, it was fine, but was in dire need of a manual or guide with the game. I did play it, but never had the manual, so I just got frustrated because it evolved! But it turned out the numemon is just really bad. As a kid, I would just reset the game, new game basically, and think I was just unlucky or something. I wish the game had something more than just showing evolution paths. WEll, come Re:digitize, a PSP game, later ported to the 3DS as Decode, made a bunch of changes. First of all, the city building isn't much there anymore, but it still unlocks useful/necessary features like the meat farm and better item shop. Evolution paths now showed actual hints as to how to achieve said evolutions, without giving too much away. I still use guides for it if I wanted specific digimon for specific events, but it is much easier to figure out what parameters they use. However, that game never came out in the west, far as I'm aware. I could only play this using a translated ROM. It's translated ok enough, clear enough to know what to do next. The story is different this time around as well. But, nothing will come close to the atmosphere of adventure that the OG has created. You could talk to file city residents to get hints on what to do next or where to go. You wander around, searching for new clues to uncover new mates for the city. There wasn't a story, just the discovery of everything that file island is, was or would be. And I'd love an actual, modern remake of it, to make evos easier, or clearer without giving away exact numbers on how to get there. Combine that with the way training is handled in re:digitze... Man, I'd love to see that game happening. But I doubt it will, this type of game is niche enough as it is.

Funfact that was like found out years later I didn't know this either) saying you have a Digivice is hard mode. So if you want an ultimate but not worry too much on proper status just say no to a Digivice....I said yes I have one in every playthrough because well I did have one lol.

It had its flaws but Digimon World created a brilliant framework for a great game series, it’s a shame that the sequels abandoned this gameplay for the next few games in the series. To be honest it was probably Digimon’s lack of consistency with the games and anime that hurt the franchise’s mainstream popularity.

I grew up watching digimon and went from it to yugio never really cared for pokemon the anime...but the games...atleast the og ones up to like gameboy color I loved

Tiny thing, I know this is a year old video, but Coelamon is pronounced "see-la-mon" not "co-el-a-mon". He's based on the coelacanth, probounced "see-la-canth"

They did, there's one for PSP but it never left Japan. You can find some fan translations online, though.

Greymon pops out at 15 point. Not 25. And only if you have a Champion or Ultimate,otherwise,the Horned Dinosaur doesn't appears.

"The only Mega in the game" is wrong, as both Phoenixmon and HerculesKabuterimon are obtainable.

Phoenixmon and herculeskabuterimon are ultimate leveled in this game and used to be ultimate period as there was no mega level for a time.

@@TaufikWiradarmo he's not wrong on that point. He is a mega and one of the first if not the first. He's a combination of the cybernetic parts of numerous ultimate leveled cyborgs.

I have a Digimon tamagotchi and I managed to obtain both zubamon and hackmon I did have to sacrifice agumon and biyomon tho so 🪦
