I know exactly how you feel in terms of grind with this game, the first time I noticed the level cap my heart sank and I knew that it was going to be a struggle. Also, gotta go back and see your review of Digimon World 1, for some reason I completely missed that one. Keep on doing great work my man Fuzzy Slippers!

Omg the amount of hours I sunk into this game 😂 Love it

I know that the game has a lot of issues, that it's slow and clunky and needlessly complicated with its digivolution, but Digimon World 2 and 3 were my first PS games and I've always been a Digimon fan so this game will always have a special place in my heart.

return bug is still one of the most sinful game mechanics I've ever encountered.

i played this game twice, the first time, half way through it, my cousin accidantally unplugged my PS1 WHILE SAVING, so lost all data... but about a week later i started again. Did not went through the last dungeon with its 99 floors thought... that was like another game itself...

Oof I've had moments like that. I don't even think I beat the final boss legit as a kid, pretty sure I used game shark lol.

I would never tell someone that this game is a good game, but it still is a game I play every year, esp now that i am able to speed up the game

I don't hate it, but I feel like a gameshark or just save stating on an emulator makes it so much less frustrating and easier to endure.

@@fuzzyslippersyt emulator makes this game way better lol. Save states in dungeons are a god send. Got a bug on the 8th floor that sent your party to the bank? Nope. Load save state , redo the same floor except skip past the bug. and save state once you do. rinse repeat. Its a single button press to save on a floor and i usually do it every other floor or so. depends on the dungeon. That and the ability to fast forward....makes the battles a LOT less tedious, makes walking around the base a breeze, and hell, it even fast forwards the black transition screens....only thing is obviously the sound gets garbled in battle when you fast forward so i tend to fast forward when theyre attacking and just keep it at regular speed when im selecting my attacks so i can still enjoy the banger music from time to time

While I absolutely hate the level cap system that make the grind even more tedious than most other games grind, I actually like the game. Which is why I always play it with Fast level up code, but things still could get hairy at times. Recently came back to it with a little twist, a mod called DW2 Alternative. It reinterpreted the story to be more interesting and even changed up some that connects DW1 and even DW3 at one point. The dungeons are all renamed and redesigned with custom tiles so it's not looking the same for all of them (But still the same in the battle tho), and changing up a lot of evolutions to make them fresh but this also can be hard to swallow due to unfamiliarity, especially the early game where you're limited in the typing of DNA DV and these typing change can throw you off so you will want to unlock Device Dome ASAP. The grind is still a problem but I found it to be more well balancing in the early game where I can play it for quite a long while without any cheats unlike the Vanilla game where I crack the code up fast, but the mod also is more challenging (Which can be a good thing) that still got me to use fast level up later in the game. Overall a pretty good mod, recommend if you like DW2.

Playing in an emulator where you can save in the dungeons is clutch

Underrated gem! I always play it on my PS2 all the time! I wish it was on SWITCH so much! 😢 Something important not said is the Beetle on hand Digimon storage goes up as you progress with 9 or 12 being maxed, I forget the max.

the digimon models, the ost, the voice acting for the moves, and the little dance digimon do after they win a battle were all ahead of its time lol

I played this game several times since my childhood, always getting a bit further and understanding the game a bit better, but when I played it several years ago, I decided it was for the last time. Even reading up some guides on DNA fusions and playing on an emulator this time to unlock the framerate, the grind is just insane, past any reasonable point, it's just intolerable. I was pretty close to the end when I gave up, but even then I looked up how close I was to the final boss, and it still would have taken me quite a while. I reiterate, even with playing the game at like 10x the speed, it's still takes figuratively forever Real shame, 'cause with just a bit of tuning, this could have been a decent game all in all. Wouldn't even mind the combination of Digimon resulting in a lower rank if the XP requirements weren't so big and the traversal and fights (especially the freakin' fights) didn't take so god damn long

I really love Digimon always have since it was released in my childhood over here in England and having played this game as a child (getting stuck and quitting) I decided that as an adult I would play it again but I wanted a physical copy which annoyingly meant buying an ntsc copy and playing it via emulator even now it’s stupidly over complicated and grind heavy requiring hours and hours to even attempt to play Yet I still love the game What I really hope for however is a complete remaster of the game one day they can keep everything the same but maybe update the graphics and add some quality of life things such as saving in dungeons along with maybe making a better way to get dp or raise lv cap maybe something like an item that raises your lv cap by 5 at a reasonably high cost still encouraging the grind for cash but reducing the need for levelling so many fodder Digimon…oh and remove the silly 1lv per battle lol Still though this game and the others for the ps1 hold a special place in my heart

I have *very* faint memories of playing this game. Never beat the first dungeon, and all I remember is someone in the hub basically going "We had to rescue you, but we won't charge because you're so pathetically poor." 😂 I'm glad I saw this video, because I was always curious of trying the game again but now I know it'd just frustrate me!

This game is sadistic and I don't understand to this day why they thought changing the well loved DW to this shitty dungeon crawler would be a good idea.
