I've been thinking about why I like watching your videos so much. It's odd because I live in Oklahoma, am nowhere near the ocean, have never been around a commercial fishing operation, don't really like eating blue crabs, (love Alaskan King crabs though), and don't have any connection to Maryland. Yet, I love watching you fish, maintain your boat, troubleshoot problems, interact with your employees, wife, and customers, and react to disasters as they occur in real time. You add all of this up, and at the end of the day, you still succeed. You push through and overcome challenges that never seem to stop coming. The odds are stacked against you, but determination and sheer grit power you through to success. That is why I like watching you and Lindsay; you are hard workers who put in the effort, keep the faith, and are rewarded in the end. It is a great example for navigating life. Great video. Keep up the great work!

Luke, Bridgestone Hosepower hydraulic service trucks are really good and affordable. They will come out and change ever hydraulic line on your machine and make all your connection quick connects. You can also ask him to crimp you a replacement set to just snap in if you need a line replaced. We use them in the oilfield and we also tear shit up.

Might be possible and more affordable and make a good video to find a good mechanic in the off-season get 200ft of line 100 male 100 female connections and rent a machine for a week that'll crimp those connections. There must be a place that rents them out, it's all small stuff compared to lines on an oil rig the biggest line is probably 3/4"

Luke, first of all, I want to thank you for your videos. I used to go crabbing and fishing almost every day with my best friend. Dungeness Crab, Ling Cod, Salmon and flounder. Sadly my friend passed away. Watching your videos puts me back on the water with him in my mind and heart. we used to have a lot of Jerry rigging days. I think that the days the more hurdles we had were the most valuable. Those were the days I remember most. Thanks again for your "real, don't pull the punches" videos.

When you mentioned using the engine's raw water pump to empty the bilge, it reminded me of that I sometimes would install a tee and valve on the raw water intake, and a section of hose with a strainer so you could use it to empty the bilge in an emergency. Being valved you could regulate the flow. Some builders did this when fitting out. edit: Nice 3208TA. Looks like a 375hp. To prevent a mess on those filters, I'd loosen the bolts holding the filter housing to the bracket, and pull the housing back over a bucket. No mess.

Luke, I enjoy your energy and work ethic. Great videos. I have a much smaller boat, 17 footer that I run a rec trotline out of. Got a MinnKota on the bow with gps steering. When I'm setting my trotline by myself i point tolling motor where i wanna go and it takes me there. When I wanna go faster than trolling motor will go I just put outboard in gear and trolling motor still does the steering at low speed. I wonder if there was just a rudder on that trolling motor and no prop it might still keep you going straight? With your ingenuity I'm betting you'll find something to steer for you when you need it... Good luck!

I served as an Engineer Mechanic in the Marine Corps...before you were born....😢. The reason all the hoses are failing is because they are all the same age. I know...just that simple. Now I work on Draft Beer systems. Still hydraulics and pneumatics, but when I have a hydraulic leak, it's not dangerous. It's delicious. The only dangerous leak is a CO2 leak in a basement or a walk in fridge.

I write the purchase or install date on all my major marine gear now. Clothing, bags, power tools, filters, pumps, electronics, and other gear items that wear out are better understood when we can measure perfomance. I like to know how old my gear is when it is in use or when replaced. Also, I add my vessel name to floating gear in the case that she goes down and leaves a floating debris trail for rescuers or for when I lose stuff at the marina.

Off of Google... Some say oyster toadfish have a sweet flavor similar to blowfish. Others say they have a mild, soft taste that's similar to fluke or sea bass. Once the fish is skinned, the meat can be filleted from the backbone and cooked in strips as with any catfish recipe; they are excellent eating when fried. Anyone handling a toadfish should be aware that its powerful jaws and strong teeth can cause serious injury to hands or fingers.
