I'm speaking for myself, and hopefully others feel the same, but I really appreciate a "true" tuning testing of the M3. I know it takes time and your pocket starts to feel it. Two things I do that make a difference to me are: 1) Harmonic Barrel Tuner 2) I use a little WD-40 SILICONE to spritz the projectile. As far as speed, I watch for the "clean impact", when the hole is tight and without larger splatters due to off center impacts, when the skirt and the point are offline. Too fast, or too slow show a raged hole. I've even cut the value adjuster down from "4" to about "3.2", the idea being is that by restricting the amount of air, may clean off some of the "dirty" air off the back of the projectile. Clean hits indicate to me the projectile is "happy" with the speed. One other thing I've done is to polish the inside of the barrel. It takes some time to lead in the barrel are this polishing but suddenly, the groups tighten. One last admission is my longest range is 55 yards. I really need to go to the range where I can shoot up to 200 yards. And thanks for your efforts, I look forward to each video and the final results.

My best groups are with the 33-34 grains slugs (zan & javelins) .218 and with nielsens 31.2 gn .2175 @ 1005 fps. First reg 175 bar, second reg 155 bar, superior heavy liner, valve full open reaches around 1030 fps then closed the valve until I reach around 1000 fps

Is that 1005 -1030 with the gun max out even with the slug power kit you would think the impact could reach higher fps with even heavier slugs ???

My impact has a superior heavy liner as well. Shooting 217 H&N 30 grain slugs at 1014fps it loves them 100 yards very accurate also the 34 grainers. If it helps anyone the front Reg 180 Rear 140.

I love the .25 Nielsen slugs in my mkII. Ran out of them and went to the jsb knock outs in the same weight and all over the place. Maybe need to tune the jsb slugs in?

This is why I stick with lighter slugs in .22 cal. 23 grainers do wonders for me with the standard superior. So easy to tune. If I ever want to experiment with heavy stuff I’ll just get a .30 cal, lightweight 30 cal slugs will still deliver the same if not more energy than really heavy .22 slugs and have better BC. I never understood the guys that go super heavy in a smaller caliber, except the countries with restrictions like the South Africa boys.

I'll be real interested in see just how heavy the FX Superior Heavy Liner will perform. I ordered a wide variety of .25 cal.slugs from NSA to see which ones perform the best: 29.0 Grain Dish Base 29.5 Grain Flat Base 33.5 Grain Flat Base 33.6 Grain Dish Base 34.9 Grain Dish Base 36.2 Grain Flat Base 38.5 Grain Flat Base 38.9 Grain Dish Base 43.5 Grain Dish Base 55.5 Grain Flat Base Lot's of shooting and tuning... but I'll get them figured out.

I completely gave up on shooting slugs out of my .25 M3. Heavy liner made things way worse. Even shooting 38.9 grain, it was horrible. I've wasted 100's of dollars trying to find a tune that works. I can put a 30 cal barrel on it and tune it perfectly all day. But for some reason, .25 is a demon I can't conquer.

Yea I agree I can tune pellets and light slugs all day, but heavy slugs have proved to be an art form for tuning. We got there Fridays video shows

I have a MkII and a M3. I find they are both a bit hold sensitive. If you vary the amount of pressure you apply with your cheek or grip it can double or triple the size of the groups. Neither of my rifles will shoot tight groups just resting on the bipod and a sandbag under the butt. I do find that if you place the rifle on bags at it's balance point they are easier to shoot smaller groups at any settings. I don't think this is really barrel harmonics but more recoil related. If you have ever watched any of the videos showing FX checking rifles at the factory the rifles are not resting on the bench but are locked into a vise.
@abitoutside

I am going to be more conscious of this moving forward, I agree recoil does happen for sure

there is what we call a perfect tune..You need to figure that out. you will get a good group at 100yrds and above not so much hold sensitive.

@@abitoutside I am not sure of your thoughts on lube and maybe you plan or have already talked about it. I have found that adding a couple drops of silicone oil in the bag lubes the slugs and tightens my groups, I do the same with pellets and have the same results, especially with barrels that foul easily. Sure would like to hear your thoughts if you want to talk about it in one of your videos.

Trusting FX's pressure gauges is like trusting a teenage daughter to matt gaetz to take her for a walk...😂😂😂 The first thing I did was change my pressure gauges for quality ones. 10 to 20 bar off is perfectly normal for FX pressure gauges. So 110/115bar can be 100 or 130 you will never know.... Or by a miracle they are right.
@abitoutside

They are accurate, I tested with my digital gauge to make sure. I should have mentioned that in my video.
