dont make a full circle if u are doing a black eye, blood accumulates at the bottom of the eye socket due to gravity, try concentrate the dark blue at the inner corner and the deepen the eye socket, also, if the bruise is unhealed, the color should be patchy

it is better to use alcohol activated color for this, try using a brush to 'draw' bruises and control the amount of 99% alcohol if u are around the eye, also, always line the water line with a burgundy lip liner,

I've just started doing volunteer makeup work for my friend's local theatre group and these amazing tutorials are really helping me a lot - thank you sooooo much for sharing :) I have a question - you used rigid collodian in your teeth mark tute but I know that you can't use this around the eyes so how would you do an eye scar (like a sword wound or something like that)? I guess it would be okay as long as the glue didn't get in your eye. The best thing would probably be medical tape with a little bit of third degree over it to make it look like it's swollen.

a girl at my school tried to fake a broken nose. but she forgot that with a broken nose comes black eyes that are more bruised than the actual nose. She had most of the teachers and staff fooled, but being a special effects makeup fanatic I could tell the difference. exspecially when she put ice on it and the makeup started coming off xD
