I always process my drums, its an important part of the mixdown of the entire song

Very musical effects on the 16+! There’s nothing quite like getting just the right ‘pump’ on the hi-hats with compression. I use the Vinyl Compression on my SP303.

The Waveboy Compressor disk crashes my EPS16 (same with the Vocode disk & maybe others.....if anyone knows why). I wonder if the Comp disk is actually just one of these stock multi-FX with the flange & distortion (for example) settings as-bypassed-as-possible. Thanks good vid!

Thanks man!!!! That's unfortunate to hear man!!! I think it's definitely possible the the Waveboy FX are based in some part on the initial Ensoniq FX for sure!

Sucks about your disk! It depends on which Waveboy disk... there is one that has all 13 native effects but it is applied to the audio input of the EPS 16 instead of the internal sampler output. Another waveboy disk is a dedicated compressor that is different than the stock effect by running at 44khz and by having tweakable bells and whistles like a noise gate etc. Less of a shame about the Voder disk - my ears just don't like it. But if you like "instantaneous craziness" I'm all about the plate and nonlinear verbs from the Audio In disk - and the soniq demolition disk is the craziest!

Damn I need that effect.

Thanks for this, always super useful and interesting! I find that my drum samples from my Proteus 2000 family synths already have that sampled and compressed crunch so I try to simply color things with the non-compression effects from EPS 16. I'm so curious what you would think of the Waveboy reverbs for EPS 16+ including Plate and Nonlinear verbs... have you heard (of) them?
