I'm so happy I found this vid!.I have a 2004fx 45v8 110,000mi.in excellent condition Cocoa Brown exterior brick black interior I thought the same thing about the lights as you which aged the car by coincidence I bought the exact same headlights that you bought and seeing them on your car I am happy I made that choice damn they look good my son does all the work on my car he did not know how to replace the lights so I was so happy to find this video showing exactly what to do with exactly what we have thank you so much by the way I can buy any car I want but I absolutely love this car the handling is incredible and this car since it's a V8 is so damn quick thank you so much for doing this video

Most anything is possible with the right amount of $ thrown at it, but I imagine it would take a good amount of bodywork fabrication for the fenders and hood. I've seen people put G37 front ends on G35 coupes so I'm sure it could be done. If so, go for the 2017 Grill and front end as I think it looks a lot better, especially the Limited, that's what I have now 💪

@@mr.casanova7145 yes you have to remove the HID ballasts from your oem lights and move them over to the new ones. It was easy with the step by step directions... I talk about that in the video at 14:40

@@mr.casanova7145 yeah read that somewhere too, but it's not there when I got the lights. I honestly didn't notice until after I installed them that there wasn't any vertical adjustment. I checked with some other people on the FX Facebook page that have the lights just to see if I was missing something and they said the same thing 🤷‍♂️

Hey Chris have a question. I just purchased a set of Spyder projectors drl switch back light. How do you or do the headlights adjust automatically? I'm having a problem with the vertical adjustments.

Hey yea I talk about this a little at 18:20 and on. Unfortunately these don’t have a vertical adjustment on the light only horizontal. So other than the one on the dash there’s no vertical adjustment and they are quite lower than stock as I came to find out. I sold it a couple years ago and got a 2nd gen, but best bet is to wedge a little something under the light assembly itself to point it up a bit, but would require the bumper to be off. If doing that out some blue painters tape on a wall while shining the light on it before so you can see where the beam pattern was to see if you’ve raised it. Hope that helps

There is this 2005 FX 35 at my uncle shop that I want to buy it will be a project because it needs an engine and seats because the driver seat is torn but I'm buying this 2007 M35 first since it's cheaper it will be a project also and it needs an engine and seats I love project cars I love bringing them back to life i use to do it to a lot of GM cars all the time but now I'm doing it with Infiniti

Mine came with the instructions to swap the ballasts, that's the only thing you have to switch other than the bulbs.

@@euclidesestribi9008 sorry I did this a couple years ago and tossed the instructions. I did a Google search but didn't see anything. The main thing is swapping the ballast which if I remember has about 3 screws holding the box on the bottom of the headlights...unhook the wiring harnesses and then feed them through to get them out and reverse the order to put in the new one. Also swap the hid bulbs. I think the new one had led only for blinkers and didn't require the blinker bulb swap perhaps but just going off memory here, Sorry

I know the dial adjust the lights on the dash? They are installed at the 0 settings. When I go to adjust the light it drops the light down. Should I have them at the 3rd setting? Will that allow the light to go up through the dial?

Yea 0 is all the way up then, gonna have to wedge something small underneath like popsicle sticks or something until you can raise it to a better level and then you can use the 1-3 adjusters on the dash to lower it if needed (if you get people flashing you or something)

They're still working fine. I some the car and now have a 2017 qx70 but I see the vehicle all over town and the lady that bought it doesn't seem to have any issues with them. My only complaint was that the light path couldn't be adjusted up so they point a little more down than the OEM ones so I found myself using my high beams a lot more often in rural areas.

How long did this install take you all together time wise?

Probably about 4 hours cause I had never done it before and was just trying to be careful not to break anything and figure it out as I went. Also trying to video every step of the way and move and reset the camera is very time consuming. Not having to video it I could have probably done it in 3.

Where do you put the popsicle stick and how many?

I don’t have it in front of me to see where would be be best, it will need to be under the light wherever it makes contact with something. You’ll have to loosen the bolts so that the light housing can move up and down a little and find a contact point to wedge something under it to lift it. Make sure you’re shining your lights on a wall and mark where your beam is before you start so you can see your progress. As to how many, only you can determine that. Or cut some small wood shims at an angle so you can wedge it better and get more lift with one. Hope that helps.

Sorry not sure I understand.... What part is flickering, the led trim light or the headlight bulb? You move over the oem ballast and bulb. In my case I put in new bulbs as a precaution when I made the switch to new headlights. I didn't wire the led for drl, I just switched them on to parking light mode to show them without the headlights on.

Nope you can come from underneath just Jack the car up or put it on rhino ramps and drop that plastic tray. That's how I did mine on my previous fx and my G37. (Before I was doing video's)

No. I upgraded my bulbs while I was in there, but you can use your existing OEM bulbs. Just wear gloves otherwise if you touch them with your bare hands the oils in our skin can cause them to burn out all of a sudden.

There's no vertical adjustment on the headlights themselves unfortunately. Just the one inside the car which didn't do much

Yes I switched over the oem hid ballast. The white LED ring comes on if I put it in parking light mode or headlights on, but if you want them to be true drl to come on anytime the ignition is on then it will have to be custom wired and tap into an accessory / ignition wire.

@@Ericgee727 I swapped the ballasts over, everything was plug and play. I didn't splice anything, though if I wanted to use them as DRLs I would have. (for the led to come on anytime the car is turned on) Otherwise the white led outer light comes on when the lights are turned on any mode, parking light and headlight and they switch to orange with the blinker which is why they're called switch back lights. So is the white part of your led not working at all?

@@GQ37official I swapped the ballast over plugged all the wires that were available to plug into but i have a extra wire hanging there with a bulb in it ... the yellow headlight blinker comes on but not the white outer running lights its just weird how the yellow comes on but not the white ?/ im going to recheck them again this weekend and see what the heck i did wrong lol

I have ordered the same headlight assembly from the protuning lab for my FX 35. Unfortunately, the running light does not work properly after 2 hours of installation.... I have contacted the seller, and they wanted me to send it back and check if anything wrong, then I should buy a new one. WELL... However, I have to pay the labor as I don't have a garage to put it on. If I am doing so, I need to pay two more labor fees to remove and re-install it, which is even more than the price for the light. Well... I will keep it without the fancy running LED lights. :< Bad luck.

Wow...I''m sorry you're having that problem. So does the white LED ring not light up at all? Mine only light up if I turn the lights on to either the parking light or full headlight. For them to come on with the white ring when you turn the car on automatically they would have to be wired into your accessory power and I didn't do that. to get the white LED ring in the video I just turned them on to the parking lights setting so that full headlights wouldn't come on and you can just see the white outline. They also blink with the blinker, does yours do that?

​@@GQ37official Thanks for your suggestion! :) My issue was ... one white LED running light works (have a constant white outline), but the other does not work. They were wired in the same way. It will be extremely weird to only have one light on all the time, then I have to disconnect both running lights. I only use them for turn signals. They blink well.

I definitely understand the frustration of taking the bumper off and removing them again even if you were to send them back. if so I would have them send another set first so you could swap them out while you had the bumper off.

@@dakkarh5604 no issues that I know this was part of a restoration series in the channel bringing a neglected fx back to life. I sold it in 2008 to get my 2017 Qx70 I'm rocking now. But just to clarify these headlighrs are not for halogen bulbs THEY ARE HID - you move your ballasts over from your factory headlights and use your factory HID bulbs in these.

@@EVO_IX no problem it does still go up and down but the headlights overall point down lower than the OEM headlights so I had to leave it in the highest position and it still was lower than OEM for some reason. I didn't notice until I drove around on some dark roads. I found myself using my brights more often in rural areas. There's horizontal adjustments on the headlights themselves but I couldn't find any way to adjust them vertically other than the knob inside the vehicle. Otherwise I like the way they look.

We've tried everything handling halogen bulbs Without gloves, even wiping grease off our foreheads... and still never got one too prematurely fail. That's said, being so expensive. We continue to wear gloves and follow manufacturers instructions when dealing with customers equipment

Yep. I had an hid fail on me after install in the past. Who knows if it was just a faulty bulb or because I didn't wear gloves, but haven't had it happen since I started wearing gloves handling them so I play it safe 🤷‍♂️

My 07 FX35 driver side headlight just developed a leak and is getting moisture on the inside so I've done a ton of research whether I should buy aftermarket headlights or factory headlights is the question? From the research I've done you're always better going off with a factory OEM headlight the reason being the aftermarket headlights may say DOT approved or ASE approved there is no dot or ASE approval. There is no better headlight on the market than a factory headlight that Infinity made specifically for that car. The only problem with purchasing OEM headlights is the fact that they are all going to be old because Infinity no longer makes headlights for the FX35 so the rubber gasket that seals the front of the headlight to the back of the headlight is old also but that's the problem you get when driving an older car they just stopped making parts for them. As far as price goes you can get OEM headlights for the same price as aftermarket and aftermarket headlights are made to look like factory headlights but they don't have the research and development going into the beam pattern light reflection etc. I hope your switchback headlights work out for you but in the long run I think you would have been better off putting OEM headlights in the car.

Haha that was a mouthful, but yes 100% OEM parts are almost always better. However, with used headlights in addition to the seals and leak potential which I had, they also usually lack the clear coat uv protection so every couple months you have to buff them as they get yellow and cloud up. Or if you only get one headlight one may be newer looking and the other super cloudy and hard to match even after sanding and buffing. OEM headlights are also about twice the price, even for used ones, but that due to all the reasons you mentioned. I like the way these after market ones look and I was fixing the car up to sale so 🤷‍♂️ Ideally getting custom OEM (blackout resealed) would be great, but unfortunately those usually don't hold up well either, that seal is hard to get right and then the sellers usually don't stand behind their work) If you follow the build you'll know I sold this fx a month later and am currently rocking a '17 Qx70 Limited 😁 This video was more of a tutorial for anyone wanting to do it.
