On the tight shot from 4:00, there’s a distracting strobing/flickering on the far right window. It doesn’t make sense it’s a light because more than likely other lights would be flickering too. I wonder if there was a water hose outdoors spinning around watering an area or something…?

I will start working on the rest of the clips for the setup. So my grip van and lighting prices are transparent. $450 for 1 ton + $1 per mile + A la carte lighting. Grip or Gaffer can range from $400-$900.

@@PDMokry So how many roles would you be charging for in this case… van, gaffer, DP, camera packages?
@PDMokry

@@davidmorefield This was a 1hr interview. Setup was 2hrs and load out was 1hr. I charged for the Van, the two lights, two FX6 packages and audio kit. I went a bit lower on my rate to fit the budget and knowing it was a four hour half day. The other person on the shoot was billed separately because he was also doing drone shots.

It was a gamble with the natural sunlight coming in. I was betting it would not get any brighter. There were three lights on the ceiling that were pinging that spot, so an 8x8 was barely enough to cut those lights. I must do a full van tour, no excuses!

That first huge monitor you show is wild. Made me wonder what the difference between a monitor and a TV is, practically
@PDMokry
@PDMokry Жыл бұрын
There are a few differences big. Inputs, LUTs, Waveform, False Color, Zebras, Overlays and a few more things. But you can have a big monitor that receives an output from a smaller one with all those features. The biggest issue is safe transport and it’s size.

double check the skin tones when using daylight LED for a key. Color quality gets questionable for skin tone. Without a full spectrum color of light, you really risk skin tones and texture looking a bit muddled. LED's have trouble getting full spectrum in the reds and in the blue/violet wavelengths. This really makes an impact when you light with something with a fuller spectrum. I would have shot a 2k tungsten and gel it if you need blue. Adding CTB only adds color, does not take away from the light source. Im picky with faces.

Also interested in how you rigged up the F22c used for the hair light. I am assuming it is a combo stand. what's the boom arm and how is the end strapped to the base of the combo stand? Thanks in advance. Heck, you could make a "How To Boom Stuff" tutorial and I think a lot of people would really benefit from it. Shots look great, can you talk a little bit about the difference between using the light dome versus just straight through your frame with diffusion? Is it just for additional softness, controlling spread instead of using barn doors, eliminating hot spots, softening shadows from the T-bone set up? Also, what would you have done differently with your key light if that 1200 D was not enough power? Thanks! Also, I have an Amaran F21x for hair lighting, which are you using in terms of diffusion for yours here?
@PDMokry
@PDMokry Жыл бұрын
I ended up using the magic cloth like diff in the f22c. It has a softer look. The dome allows for one less stand and helps control the spill. I can also change the diff or even add a grid if needed. If the output was not enough, I would have run the medium or narrow reflector and broke with a 40x40 frame of diff. That would cut hot spots and and I don’t ever feel I need the full diff filled with light, I always try to go bigger than needed. Thank you for watching!

I do start to see some nanlite stuff tho. any how, keep up the good work!

4:34 _"oil absorbing wipes"_ What's the name of the product that you use? Also, do you ever use clear oil absorbing face power or do you always use wipes?

Powder would require a new brush every use or cleaning. Most men would refuse powder. These work like a champ: amzn.to/47oaZtV

@@PDMokry that's a good point about needing multiple brushs. I just ordered some these and tested a wipe on my own face. It certainly works well! My only concern is that it could ruin or removing existing makeup. Is that something you've encountered when using these?

@@SimplestUsername If you avoid rubbing with them and lightly press them all over, it should work.

@@PDMokry Thx for sharing. For some reason I though it's somethin between 24 and 35mm, but I should get a hint from the position of both cameras. They are kinda the same distance from the talent so focal length could not be that far apart :D. Anyway the results are very impressive. Is 50mm GM 1.2? :D

@@PDMokry I think it looks good taking a second look. Nice job. I think for me, psychologically it's a bit weird to have such bright highlights that suddenly stop right behind him but does add a lot of visual interest.
