I bought the 2012 103ci FXDWG (black with orange flames) as my first bike. I also considered the Lowrider and Streetbob. But I just love the looks of my Dyna Wide Glide. It took some getting used to in the first week with my length of 5'7. But now I'll get on it to ride as much as possible. Go out for some coffee or do long distance. I enjoy every mile I ride on my Wide Glide.

The wide glide is like nothing else, its like the mac daddy to the short wheel base of the low and bob, and because of the rake, you actually have more spring back on the rear wheel meaning it plants well

I own a 2006 wide glide and I love it. Bought new from the dealer in 06. Im 6 ft and that had to do alot with why I bought it. Very comfortable bike and doesn't look like all the hipster dynas out there.

I bought a 97 wide glide last year. I thought those forward controls were gonna take a while to get used to but after a few months I can't comfortably ride anything with mid controls anymore. So to hear someone else say the same thing makes me feel better. Lol 😀👍 Great video

I loved my 2001 FXDWG ... I put over 70,000 on it and rode it to Sturgis and back. It had forward controls and I ran a Mustang seat .. it was very comfortable. I wish I had it back!

I prefer the older wide glides with the chopper styling on the rear fender and mini apes personally. Mine is from my father and is a 2002 Dyna wide glide with two tone ghost flame paint. I love the hell out of it, loved it since I was a kid and now I’m roaring down the roads with my hair blowing in the wind. Wide glides are works of art. I agree with the performance issues though, it handles decent until you corner, there are scratches on the bottom of my legs from hitting the ground on corners. Great sound, look and feel though which is what I want in a Harley, if I want performance I can ride one of my other bikes that are built for that.

Owned a few wide glides and never had any issues with cornering! I quite often hear people say wide glides have poor cornering ability! I just think the people that say that have a lack of riding ability lol. I've owned 6 Harleys, my everyday vehicle is an 05 wide glide with 16 inch apes, it handles Like a dream. I've never owned a car or even bothered to learn how to drive a car! I've been riding since I was a wee lad, I just absolutely love bikes. I Ride at the very least 2400 kilometers a month. I Just read what I wrote 🤣 It sounds like I think I'm cool or something hahaha 🤦🏼🤣 What a loser lol.

FXDWG 2012 black with orange flames. I've had this bike for 2 years now. For me it is the best and the most comfortable Harley. Ride it every day to work and long rides on weekends. No issues with leaning it or making sharp U turns, though it took some time to get used to it. Installed 20" ape hangers, even more comfortable now. My second bike is 2020 Street Bob with forward controls and 14" apes. Gave it to my son. Won't change my FXDWG.

Looking at all of the dyna's now I think the black wide glide with factory flames is probably the most iconic Harley of the dyna era, I know everyone is on a clubstyle performance build now, and I went that way as well but if I was to get another dyna now a classic black and flamed wide glide would be the only option.

Honestly the fact that it sounds almost like an old panhead, looks awesome, and will jerk your ass off the seat in any gear if you are above 2200 rpms is enough for me.

Just got my first bike last year. An 03 wide glide. Now obviously i dont really have a frame of reference since its my first street bike but i had absolutely no problem adjusting to it quickly and getting comfortable. It has enough power that i can hang with my friends on their bikes and not get embarrassed or left behind and it handles surprisingly well to boot. Actually all my friends that ride their road glides and road kings and other soft tails that have ridden my WG all came away impressed with it and all talk about it as a "great bike". I absolutely love it and would legit recommend it to other first time riders.

I need a six speed with more power for long trips so I’ve already put a deposit on a 2015 Dyna wide glide black denim. I’m getting ready to buy it on Friday with the classic flames. I just purchased a 2011 Dyna wide glide...it's a low rider. I'm 6.4 maybe 6' 5 Yellow with black flames , red pinstripe. I love it, my first street bike. I'm blessed I just received my new 13" progressive 444 , having them put on tomorrow. Getting rid of rear stock 12" shocks. Was having a scrape issue on right side. I'm setup for the 2 day (Msf)safety course in 3 weeks, just in time for spring. Enjoyed the video, can't wait to go riding. American Patriot

I have a 2011 too, Black, no flames...,19" apehanger. It rides very well. Enough of torque for sure. I am 6 ft, riding Position is excellent. Rear suspension Is not the best, thinking about progressive s .Last yr I had trouble with a broken spring for shifting . Its located inside the transmission, so it was a hell of a job to repair. I was lucky that it didnt do much damage to the transmission itself. Here I am now riding again , everything is fine, hoping my WG wont break down another time...🙏

Yeah, regarding a stock Wide Glide's forward mounted controls, I bought a second hand '05 Wide Glide(carb'd), in 2019. Bike had less than 3,500 miles on odometer. I live in Honolulu, Hi. I'm vertically challenged, so I installed a TC Bros. Dyna Mids Kit on my bike. I custom bent a shift lever, to use the stock forward mounted control, to avoid having to replace the optional inner/outer primaries, with shifter stub poking through. My custom shifter setup works fine, just the shift pattern is now reversed. 1 up, 4 down. Aloha! 🤙🙂🤙

Next April, my WG turns 29years of age and I will have had it 9 years. It's the 100 year HD Anniversary model. Not many WGs have been imported into 🇨🇭 over the years. So this is a keeper, especially as it is so comfortable for the long haul and very much a talking point at meet ups. It was always my dream HD to have, but I never had the bucks till 9 years ago. Great bike..., I ♥️ WG.

When i 1st got my 2014 Wide Glide i purchased in the with and come spring i thought oh crap, i F'ed up. but then i got used to it and really started to enjoy it, im only 5'7 and have forward controls but its still enjoyable. Its not the only bike i have, i also ride a 2009 Rocker C, 2021 Street Glide.

I have a 2012 Wide Glide and at 6'4" its the ONLY HD I feel compfortable on. No its not easy to manuver in parking lots at low speeds but, it feels great and very stable at higher speeds but, it's not a corner carver.

recently got my hands on a 2000 fxdwg wide glide. orange/gold two tone paint 88ci. vance and hines straight pipes. imported from the US to the netherlands. i was proud and happy to finally be part of the dyna family. so i thought....my first ride was short. something was wrong with the bike, very wrong. the deathwobble . to make a long story short, currently it's at the dealership fo ra major overhaul. it has many issues but that's ok. come spring i be riding it like i stole it fellas. it will be a whole new experience after many years on my 2005 sportser 1200 custom. stay safe ya,ll.

If you take one of the newer FXDWG on a long trip take some gas bottles, the fuel tank is smaller. I rode to Sturgis on a wide glide (5k miles in 9 days) and felt beat up afterwards. Took a long trip on an electra glide 2up and never felt a thing.

Hey, I recently bought a new bike after my sportster 1200 I had a few years. Could have bought any harley out there, wanted a dyna wide glide. It's probably the best design harley ever made since 1980 and the 2010-2017 are great. I found a vivid black 2010 with 3,800 miles and love it. I don't ride a harley for cornering or performance other than sound reliability and comfort and at 6'3 the wide glide is the best bike. Unless you're shorter and can run mids, wide glide is what's up, a true chopper from harley davidson, no regrets buying one

I like it alot, I couldn't see myself on anything smaller. I like almost all harleys, the thing about it is when I'm riding, I dont feel as if the wheel is that far in front of me, to me it feels like a natural way of riding. I do once in a while speed on it and go around 90 mph on the highway and it does hook like a sport bike

Also mine us a 2010 and it doesnt appear to be that old, the entire look fenders tire size is the same all the way till 2017, with the only exception of abs and security on the later models, oh and the 103 ci as apposed to my 96" BUT you can swap that out like a pair of socks

I have 1998 FXDWG with 16" apes and I have to strongly disagree with the cornering thing. It corners so well that my exhaust guards are constantly scraping the pavement. I think you just need to get used to the rake and forward controls ;)

Just bought the fxdwg take delivery next week. 2013 plate my first Harley. I’m an ex super bike rider so a totally different ride . Now I’m getting a little older and be using it more for cruising around the country rds . Is it really bad for corners or is it a matter of getting used to the rake and forward controls ?

While the raked out fork has some impact on maneuverability but Its not as much as you think. I believe the forward controls and raked front end is a new ride feeling and your not as confident. If you rode it for a while you would feel more confident and it wouldn't be as different as you think. Don't get me wrong a Street Bob with mid controls and shorter rake gives you more confidences but its not that massively more maneuverable. The thing is everybody has either a Street Bob or low rider its nice to rock a bike that takes you back to the full experience of laying back an chilling. It truly depends on why you ride and what moves you. I have a Road King I had a Triumph T-100 which was a fun bike and very tight in the twisties. The thing with Street bob and SportGlide etc.. all back with T-Bars and Fairing is you look like a Son's of Anarchy wannabe and I cant stomach that especially with my rag on it looks even worse all I need is white nike's.

I have a chance to buy a 100 anniversary edition wide glide locally. I ride a softail standard, also 2003. I want to buy something for my 18 year old son so we can do father-son road trip before college. He is 6‘2“, skinny and rides a Yamaha enduro to high school currently. Would he be able to step up into a Dina Wide Glide for a road trip to Sturgis or the Grand Canyon? Is that too big a step for an 18 year old?

I love my Wide Glide, I don't think I will ever get rid of it. It has the classic, timeless chopper styling; black paint, and loaded with chrome. It came with about the ugliest, studded, wide AF Corbin seat when I bought it. Which I swore would be the first thing to go as soon as I could afford a new seat. Well, many many thousands of miles later, and a couple seat purchases (none of which have been installed) my ass is still sitting on that gay ass studded seat with matching studded saddle bags. Here's why; it's like riding a recliner down the road. My back never hurts, and my ass doesn't get tired or sore. But the biggest reason that wide-ass, bedazzled seat continues to ugly up my sexy Wide glide is that my daughter likes it. Some guys do the "happy wife, happy life" thing, and if that works for them, cool. I'm more into the happy me, happy me, mentality. First thing, I lost about 120 lbs of misery, took my kid, and bought another bike. Then another, and another, and maybe one or two more. My daughter has grown up riding on the back of a bike; 10's of thousands of miles. All that riding has made her the perfect passenger. So, I deal with having the world's ugliest comfortable seat on my bike; because there isn't anything better than hearing my best friend say, "Can we take the Harley, Daddy?" To get back on the subject after sidetracking myself. Even though the previously mentioned seat spreads my legs a little wide and stretching for my tiptoes to touch the ground. (5'4" with a 27" inseam) I find the forward controls comfortable and have zero issues with slow-speed maneuvers. Which is probably a good thing since my feet don't touch the ground. lol All in all, in my opinion, the FXDWG is a pretty easy bike to ride. Much, much easier than when I was 10 trying to kickstart my dad's CR500 so I could ride it. I think I was just barely able to reach the shifter on that one. Not too much has changed, I guess. lol
