The front picture reminded me of my old deck, “Oops all Fynns”. Scuteswarm tokens, with Fynn, and echoing equation. Most people didn’t know Fynn’s trigger stacks and five fynns means they are all lethal.

I'm currently on a MTG break but I still like to watch you and CGB. When I saw the thumbnail I thought "cool, Fynn is the best commander if you want get some quick games in". Was really surprised to see that he's standard legal again. Edit: In hindsight I could've seen the black mana in the thumbnail as an indicator for the format not being brawl.

Always been somewhat ironic card design when there is no real counter to getting poison counters and proliferate cards, except literal counterspells and that one card from ONE.

NIce to see Fynn back! Other cards in the current card pool I'm experimenting with: Roaming Throne Audacity Hunter's Talent Glissa Sunslayer So many ways to deliver evil! There are quite a few puzzles in the current meta, so keep on keeping on with poison!

Fynn and Echoing Equation used to be my favorite deck to play in any format. First five-color mana base I made that worked AND it was such a fun teachable moment of: I hit you with just one Fynn but before they all leave Poison says we have to tally the effect, which means you take 2 for each Fynn I had and that's... 400! Hail Phyrexia and GG. So simple and yet not impossible to counter, unlike old-school infection.

Match 5 was winable if you used whisper to survive the attack without blocking (going down to 1 life and bringing op to 5 poison) and then attack with both contaminators and casting inquiry for the last 5 poison poison counters. Cool deck, I think I'll try it myself!

I wonder if 3 mana Glissa has a place in this deck. Good rate 3 drop that provides value and very hard to block deathtoucher. Maybe a sideboard option to replace inquiry against aggro decks? 🤔
@LegenVD5 күн бұрын
Definitely a solid option, even if it doesn't directly add Poison.
@panagiotisgeorgopoulos74785 күн бұрын
Probably 24 lands are quite a lot, and I'd add either Snakeskin/Royal Treatment to make Rotpriests even better.
@LegenVD5 күн бұрын
Certainly an option, possible the 4-mana Rotpriests are too slow and we can lower the curve a bit.

@@LegenVD Sounds right. Lower the curve to Preacher of the Schism, and definitely add protection.
@skeletonmtg851116 сағат бұрын
6:45 couldn’t you have waited to see what you draw? If you wait and draw any spell that targets your blightpriests then you can hold full control target one of them with anoint and then in response cast the other spell you draw targeting blightpriest. They get 4 poison which kills them. Just a reminder for anyone else who plays with blightpriest that you can hold full control and use your own removal spells to give your opponent enough poison to kill them.
@LegenVD4 сағат бұрын
That's certainly an option, although if we don't draw something useful we just took 2 extra damage vs a burn deck.

Appreciate the the Golgari take on the deck. I went and made a Selesnya version myself. Pros: Delney doubles the effects of both Venerated Rotpriest and Fynn. Divine Resilience combos with the Rotpriest. Expel the Interlopers? Skrelv's Hive & Caretaker's Talent? (I'm still testing it out) Cons: Really misses out on all the instant speed Proliferate and removal effects (Get Lost isn't quite as good). Infectious Inquiry is probably the best value card draw. But seeing your version with Skulldweller got me to add Ankle Biter so I can drop that on turn 1. Fynn on Turn 2, attack for 2 poison. Delney on turn 3, attack for 8 poison.
@LegenVD5 күн бұрын
Delney sounds like a fun inclusion!
@musselbug75835 күн бұрын
Might I suggest 'Venom Connoisseur' who is legal in standard again. She gets double triggered by Delney's ETB to give the whole squad deathtouch for Flynn. I'd also consider throwing in some 'Roaming thrones' in the 4 drop slot, as they can act as non-legendary extra/substitute Delneys when set to Human (which Venom also is). Plus their ward 2, extra toughness and immunity to 'Go for the Throat' make them much stickier than Delney for 1 more mana.
@fluffyfang42135 күн бұрын
@@musselbug7583 I very much like the way you think! Venom Connoisseur and Skrelv's Hive make each other much more threatening. I'll have to play a few games to see how Roaming Throne feels. Was using Delney to sneak past large blockers, but everything having Deathtouch makes that mostly unnecessary :)
@musselbug75835 күн бұрын
@@fluffyfang4213 I personally think the main draw of Delney and the thrones is the explosive double trigger effect moreso than Delney's evasion. VC doesn't contribute much unless she can get two ETB triggers in a turn, but either enabler will give you the group deathtouch effect on their own etb and only require a single creature entry after that in order to trigger it on subsequent turns - which makes VC far more consistent if you haven't got a hive, and precludes you from having to cast another creature at all if you do. I would also consider 'Cosmic rebirth' or even 'Raise the Past' as sideboard options to catch your opponent off guard and get your combo pieces back on board, making it less necessary to hold up mana for 'divine resilience' or 'angelic intervention' etc. , which can slow down your curve.
@fluffyfang42134 күн бұрын
@@musselbug7583 I suppose I have to admit that you're right. When I wrote that reply, I was still using toxic attackers. The more I used the deck with VC, the more I phased them out and the more Delney became a slightly cheaper effect doubler... and being one mana cheaper wasn't even that useful since the deck evolved to be better in the midgame. One version even had 4 copies each of the Hive, Enduring Innocence, and Caretaker's Talent (at which point Delney really wasn't pulling his weight). It already had me considering Raise the Past (just debating spending the wildcards on it). Currently running my one copy of Ghost Vacuum in place of it. I do want to note that Divine Resilience was more meant to combo with the Rotpriest since kicking it targets things individually, but I might need to save that for a poison deck without Fynn in it. Lots of interesting choices to build around with these colors and I continue to appreciate the perspective
