@@Theruggedstoretoughbooks Yes, I didn't know at all about the Dashboard! I use my toughpad as a data collector in the field in the winter months, and wear gloves. I was having trouble with my gloves actuating the touchscreen when I was intending to use the stylus, so I had to take off my gloves, and my fingers were VERY COLD. Now, at the Dashboard>System>Screen Input, I've set to "pen only" and it doesn't matter that I have gloves on. I don't have to make any effort to avoid touching the screen. Huge difference. Only thing I'm debating now in that respect is whether it'll be better to use the "pen only" setting and (of course) use the pen, or whether instead I might use "touch + pen" and get some gloves that have the capacitance fingers. I'm thinking the former is better, because there are many times when I need to be precise in where I click the screen, and the pen allows for single click, double click, etc. whereas it is awkward to achieve same with touch only. One other discovery was to be able to turn off display between setups - Dashboard>System>Tablet buttons - I programmed the A2 button to turn off the display. I found that I have to press and hold the power button to resume the display, but this is easy to do. Very quick and efficient, and turning off screen eliminates possibility of false inputs. Something funny I found out on my own G1: hold A1 for a few seconds while off and the battery light comes on. No idea what that does though.

You can set it in the power settings or access it through your Panasonic Utility function. @@dianeramsey3949 sorry if my answer wasn't clear enough(?) brightness of the toughpad can be adjusted automatically through a light sensor or it can be turned to manual adjustment. You can access the brightness setting in "Power Settings" (easiest way to open that is clicking on the battery icon in the lower right of your screen) or through the Panasonic Utility function (you can see me accessing this at around the 2:45 mark in this video. If you reset the device without using the Panasonic embedded windows image then it wont be part of the software included. You'll need to download drivers and utilities from the Panasonic toughbook support website. Google "toughbook support center" click on that page, then select "learn more" under Toughbook Software. That page will have the utilities, if you go back to the first page and select you model, MK, and windows version you can also download and drivers you may need.

Hey! you are going to want to turn off "adaptive brightness" not the motion sensor. Adaptive Brightness can be found in the display settings. (The G1 is trying to adapt the screen brightness to be optimal for the external light.)

For precise location tracking you need to have a GPS module or an active mobile data plan activated to use cell tower triangulation.

Toughbooks and Toughpads use a specific manufacturer Windows image, are you installing of a normal windows media? if so there could be a driver issue thats causing issues. I would recommend using the imbedded windows recovery image to reinstall windows and then updating the drivers. If the unit you're tying to install Win 7 on did not come from the factory with Win 7 (ex. newer Win 10 units) then Win7 may not run well on them as there likely isn't drives for Win 7 for them. To check go to Google type in "Toughbook Support Center" click on the first 1 or 2 links that says "Toughbook Support Center" on that page use the drop downs to select "product line (tablets)" > "select model (Toughpad FZ-G1)" > "select support type (all drivers)" then "filter by: (choose the MK of your particular device)" > "operating system (choose Win 7 64-bit SP1)" if your devices shows drivers for Win 7 then you should be able to get Win 7 to work on the device. If it returns no results then your device is not compatible with Win 7 without a lot of work arounds.

Hey Jesus, thanks for watching. Should be able to put whatever capacity SSD you need into it. I've personally only seen them with up to 1TB SSD in there, but can't foresee any tech obstacles for going beyond that capacity.

Do you happen to know how to save these new button configurations for the device and not for the user. I have multiple users needing to sing in and out, old and new, and i dont want to have to let them know that they need to update it manually. Just want all users straight up to be able to use the buttons a specific way.

In the U.S., the letter "Z" is pronounced "zee". In other countries, perhaps Australia, the letter "Z" is pronounced "zed". I don't know how this came to be, but I've encountered it too.

This thing is junk. OS is lame. The tablet is big, and heavy. Lots of better options out there.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The FZ-G1 is an industrial device it's designed to be thicker (therefore heavier) on purpose to meet the durability needs of the customers who use them (military, construction, etc.). They are not supposed to be Ipads and you won't find an Ipad with a MIL810 rating either. It's has a totally different target customer base then consumer tablets. The OS is Windows which is the most compatible with commercial and industrial software and applications which make it the best and only real choice for a industrial tablet. Being the number one most purchased rugged tablet on the market we believe Panasonic hit it out of the park.
