I have this toy! Actually, I have both versions. Hobby Link Japan sold off the lighter version cheap so I ended up ordering that a well. I only ever opened the version you are showing and it still sits on a shelf, like new. I LOVED this ship and Battle of the Planets. One of the best theme tunes ever. The lighter version was painted that was to match how it looked in Battle of the Planets if memory serves. The film negative that Sandy Frank had used to make the US version of the show had faded so they made the second edition to match that. At least that is what I think was the reason, it seems like forever ago I purchased these toys. The other one is packed away in the loft.
