i noticed you asked about marilyn monroe so i’ll explain!! this comeback is based on marilyn monroe. soyeon was inspired by her quote, “i’d rather be hated for who i am than loved for who i am not.” she said it was sort of like “this is who i am and i’ll be who i am even if you stop loving me for it.” it’s also why they’re all blonde. she wanted to talk about the prejudice of how marilyn was seen as a dumb blonde sex symbol even though she was extremely intelligent. she also wanted to use the nude concept as breaking prejudice & stereotypes as to why people automatically associate nudity with something vulgar or sexual bc she sees it more as something vulnerable, like being your full true self. i’m not sure if you watched with subtitles, but the lyrics are very prominent & portray the concept really well. side note, marilyn monroe is soojin’s favorite person. she’s her absolute favorite celebrity, and she’s had multiple photos of her as her wallpaper. i’m glad you enjoyed the comeback :) your saida video back in 2018 is what got me into kpop. when gidle debuted a few months later they instantly became my favorite group, so i technically have you to thank

The cartoon character shares the mole and lipstick, the newspaper headlines mention a sexy woman who becomes a troublemaker and liar who is the center of gossip, their hip sways even remind me of the dance moves Soojin was amazing at pulling off. A few reactors I've watched immediately concluded this was the subliminal message, but I have since been convinced.

Soyeon is literally a genius writer, this song had amazing lyrics with a message- about how women in the entertainment industry are sexualized for just existing (for ex. Marilyn Monroe), and their natural bodies shouldn't be seen as a sexual thing. Also, Soojin (an animated version of her) made an appearance in the MV, it's clearly her because she had the same hair and mole in the same place, along with the exact same visuals.

Shuhua dyed her hair for the first time because of how important it was to the concept. A Marilyn Monroe concept, when Soojin was a big fan and the cartoon character has her mole...
