I had the support vehical and had alot of fun with it. I just wish I still had it. We use to abuse our joes for all he was worth and he still lived. We even dropped them from a kite about 100 feet off the ground with no chute. Man they were good times...

@Angel0fDarkness78 It was really great being a kid during the era of the big GI Joes. Man I remember hours and hours of fun with these. Because they were so large, everything to a kid's mind seemed in scale. The tall grass was just bamboo.. it was a brilliant time. I hope you can keep that excitement in your heart as well and perhaps design and press toys like these again one day.

I got this on Christmas 1972. Totally loved it, but was almost outgrowing toys at the time, so it was given away. As a collector now, I have two; If you get one to restore, expect the rubber belt that connects the motor and the radar to have decomposed to greasy horrible material. Also, the switch mechanism is a challenge to fix if broken. Both mine look like they are only a few years old!

I had that. I also had the tracked amphibious vehicle with the big radio/radar on the back that had pre-recorded messages in it but I forget what it was called. I also had a generic jeep that worked well for the figures. A friend had the headquarters. Lots of fun, we had.

I believe that one was called the Trouble Shooter. I think they were red.

Well, at least G I Joe never grew his hair long and came with a protest sign accessory. Good to see he preserved his sanity and dignity after his service to our country. :)

Yeah. These toys looked pretty awesome. I DO have the Hot Topic Land Adventurer and I love it! Even though I have trouble getting him to sit down >> (Though as a child of the 80s, I still love my 3.75" Joes too.)

Sorry for late reply. There are a few small parts missing. Most of it is there. But the map and inside detail are worn out. Not the best condition.

I loved the G I Joe stuff as a kid, but now find myself questioning why the military let him have a beard. Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks
@DoctorRobert645 жыл бұрын
The Adventure Team came out during Vietnam. Hasbro was sort of getting joe out of the military. He was an Adventurer now. Not in the Army but just an air adventurer, sea adventurer and so on. Yeah.

How did Patton want to fight the war?
@Dragonrider122712 жыл бұрын
At this point, they actually took GI Joe out of the military because backlash against Vietnam made war toys very unpopular

You know it burns my backside every time I think about how Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara never let George Patton fight the Vietnam war the way he wanted. If Patton had been allowed to win in Nam, we would have had a decisive victory in half the time, and G. I. Joe likely would have retired from military service only after many more excellent years of service. Who knows, we might have had General Joe lead Desert Storm instead of Stormin Norman.
