You say you hope this video has been a bit of interest to me? I wish I could have watched this back in the '80s when I owned this cuz I could have used a bit of this advice. Dave, you are an inspiration to me and I am sure to a lot of folks. Keep on restoring and save the toys! Thank you kindly for your knowledge.

Who would have thought to use the plastic from a CD case to make a new tab for a broken tail fin wing, Toy Polloi that’s who! What a fantastic idea for a toy fix. I have a few toys that have similar tabs that have broken off and I’m definitely going to be employing this handy fix for them. Thank you for another great video and I look forward to seeing the Skystriker back to its former glory!

Came across my old SkyStriker in my parents garage a couple years ago. I got it for my birthday in 1983. It was missing a bunch of stuff and was yellowed. I gave it a full restoration and now it looks great. Great fix on the tail fin !

Ezri Dax , we (the children of the 80's ) were really lucky to be the generation that got these sort of toys as children. ...many great backyard and garden memories. now, we watch our children and THEIR children play as we remember what it was like to be so young.

Growing up, none of my friends used blue tak for their toys - I was the only one in my group. I thought I was alone 😉. This is such a brilliant fix and perfect fit for the G.I. Joe celebrations that have been going on all month. (by the way, every time I get any toy in the mail and have to clean it, I hear your damn music in my head).🎶

Very good fix for those tailfins, will try that myself :) Btw it is much easier to clean it up if you disassemble the main fuselage (5 screws) so you can really get all dirt out from the inside + easier to fix the canopy mount ;)

Great vid bud, can't wait for part two. I got myself a pin vice a while ago and the drill bits I got with it seem to go going really quickly, I'm only using it on fixing plastic toys, but your drill bit seems to work really well. You don't look like you are putting any pressure behind it at all, I have to apply pressure on mine to get it to bite in and start creating a hole. Trouble with applying pressure is you risk snapping or bending the bit.
@toypolloi
@toypolloi 5 жыл бұрын
I do apply some pressure. The set I have was a cheap one from ebay. And came with the drill bits. I would expect to break a few of them though as they are super thin. So I will be replacing the bits shortly I think.
@BrynSmith76
@BrynSmith76 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for getting back to me, yes, mine was a cheap ebay one as well so I expect I will be in the market for stronger drill bits or a simple way to sharpen them without a lathe. Lol

Have you ever tried using unperfumed baby wipes to remove dirt from delicate areas of toys or models? They work very well, I've found. They're also good for removing cak from old vinyl records that haven't been stored very well.
