To get the strongest bond from 'Plastic Weld', you should marry the two parts together, and then apply the solvent to the area of the break. Capilliary action will draw it into the joint and fuse it almost immediately. You can brush tiny amounts onto the break after you have done this, and it will seal it completely. Plastic Weld evaporates so fast, it will leave frost on your brush. If you can see this, it means that the solvent has already gone, leaving a token amount on the brush. Plastic Weld will fix any plastics except Polyethylene, Polypropylene, and Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC). I think that the canopy you're fixing is Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, or ABS, the plastic that LEGO is made of.

My name is Dave and I just finished restoring a Skystriker as well a few days ago...except for those parachutes. The original decals on mine were in horrible shape, so I used wd40 to peel them off, and clean off all the old residue. I soaked the skystriker in a tub of soap & hot water as well. Found the parts I needed, put them on and then put on the brand new decals I purchased from Toyhax. It turned out great. For my co-pilot, i used the body from a v1 Ace & the head from a v1 Short Fuse. I need a helmet for my co-pilot though. Great restoration. You are really creative with how you fix parts.

I absolutely love your Lieutenant Polloi custom. Taking a figure that would otherwise have been thrown in the trash and making something fun out of it. I had forgotten how much I wanted to see part 2 of this fix it until you posted it😀. Still one of the best aerial vehicles GI Joe put out, in my opinion. I also really enjoy your outdoor videos. PLAYING WITH THE TOY! Yes, please.

Maybe a white silk handkerchief cut to size might work as a parachute replacement? If it was white, you might be able to even silk screen a logo on it too!

I have an original Skystriker parachute. The plastic is easily thin as (or thinner) than a sheet of paper. The strings have torn off and the plastic is quite brittle now. It is blue with a white eagle head printed on it, Skystriker below that, and a white ring around those. Very difficult to find one in good condition. Love your videos!!!

That was a neat fix there, especially with the canopy. And the plastic used for the official parachutes were definitely thinner, and they're usually crumpled up when I see them in pictures and videos from other collectors, with a rubber band with it. It would have been nice to see you make repro stickers of the first release of it in Action Force (with the yellow and red logo) but still good. Nice video overall.

You can make a space helmet replacement from Vending Machine Capsules. You may have some around already or can get them at a local vending machine or buy them in bulk new from eBay or Amazon for cheap. I know this video is a few years old but I would love to see you fabricate a clear space helmet for Captain Polloi out of clear capsule dome.

I have mentioned this before, but I recommend trying some UV cure resin for fixing plastic parts. It works better on some plastics than others, but worth a bit of experimenting. Green Stuff world has it, as well as a lot of other crafting stores such as sophie & toffee.

from what i can make out the original parachute is 4x the scale of the figures which puts it at 15" and i would say it made from the same weight plastic as disposable asda bag. amazing restoration thanks for sharing.

Methyl Ethyl Ketone will perform as a plastic weld and has a decently long evaporation time. Works great on ABS and have had much success with Transformers. Big can of it is around $10 or something, its a stronger less evaporating acetone family. It is nasty stuff though so be well ventilated area. Enjoy.
