You never fail to wow me, Dave! It warms my heart to see Devastator back in fighting form. He looks great. I hope he watches over Toy-Polloi HG. I can confirm that was battery acid (AA) on Long Haul. The batteries were from my classic Kenner X-Wing and they did indeed explode. I think that's what ate away the chrome on LH's wheels, too. Thanks again for a great video.

It wouldn’t surprise me if that complete Scavenger is a knock off. The Constructicons never officially released here. In the late 80’s highly accurate carded knock offs started appearing at car boot sales, and came with a public warning about high lead content in the pain. This is how I got my Constructicons - along with a lot of other local boys. We just wanted Devastator, knock off or not! Mine are still in the garage.

Hey Dave, just FYI, Long Haul's 'thighs' that are on display under Devastator's groin attachment piece and above that purple connector that Mixmaster and Scrapper are on that hooks up to on Long Haul, should be chrome not green - the battery leak or whatever it was must've 100% stripped all the chrome off them. I just re-chromed his legs using one of those Liquide Chrome pens on my own Devastator.
@toypolloi11 ай бұрын
Thanks. I've got another long haul since this video that has chromed legs so I guessed as much. The battery really did a very good job of removing the chrome as there is not a trace left on him.
@trentonmckinnon4 жыл бұрын
Awesome. Something weird going on though. Longhauls legs should be chrome and Scavengers hand gun should not be chrome.. I heard you say the donated Scavenger might be a reissue. But I wonder what's going on with Longhauls legs. It looks legit .. Maybe a UK or US variation? Or maybe the battery acid ate the chrome? Never seen one with green legs. Awesome video!!!! You are best in all the land! ☺☺

Don't know about the figure itself, but the pistol from that Scavenger you were wondering about is definitely not original. The original was black, not chrome.
@BernardPlatypus4 жыл бұрын
Nope it definitely ain't an original. I got the whole set and a few of the single carded figures back in the day from a Nuxley Toys - but they recalled them after an apparent toxic paint scare ... so the Devastator box set went back, box and all but the single carded figures did not. Shame because the Devastator box was in multiple languages (I believe the story is they were manufactured in Mexico?) and had all the original bits. So, with Scavenger still in hand after all these years... Well, thanks Dave for taking what you could from him and making use. He was sitting in a 4L Vanilla Ice Cream box, waiting to return to the light. Great video.

Yeah Transformers is much more my thing. I believe the crane part of Hook needs to point forward though. Also, Long Haul has chrome legs tfu.info/1985/Decepticon/LongHaul/longhaul.htm It's a bit hard to tell in robot mode, but in vehicle mode, you can clearly see the chrome. And it's quite obvious Devastator was a prototype, each robot has a designated place and mode. Unlike the later Scramble City combiners, where you could mix and match.
@toypolloi4 жыл бұрын
There were no signs of chrome on this longhaul. So it doesn't look like it should be chromed to me.
@dvdbytes43484 жыл бұрын
@@toypolloi I had a look around on tf.info and the tf wiki tfwiki.net/wiki/Long_Haul_(G1) and there is no mention of a Long Haul with un chromed legs, and they should know. All G 1 Long Hauls have chromed legs from what I can see. However, the G1 comic and cartoon Long Hauls legs were green. And considering there was some weird residue on this Long Hauls legs, I think its quite possible a previous owner wanted to remove the chrome and get a more "show accurate" Long Haul.
@MichaelJShaffer4 жыл бұрын
@@dvdbytes4348 I didn't remove the chrome - I never really altered my transfers at all, as they seemed so delicate already.
