I have an ASAT Tribute deluxe that has SG style humbuckers and a tone pro tune-0-matic bridge and I can honestly say its on par or better then a lot of mexican Fenders I've played. It's like a mim Fender but after someone already upgraded it a bit. Not to mention that there colors look fantastic (Their "Irish ale" colors gorgeous in person)

Just found you while looking for reviews on this guitar. I picked a second hand one up a couple of years but I'm just a serial dabbler, I really must change that. Anyway I spent this evening exploring the sounds through my N5X (made from a kit) with a Celestion G12 gold and they are awesome pickups. Just 3 switches 2 dials and so many sounds. Loved your playing I was thinking maybe one day I'll make sounds like that then you hit the shred button.....Sub'd and there's a coffee on me :)

Hi Jonathan. Wow that neck pick up sounds amazing. In fact all positions have so much clarity and depth of tone. I love these G&L guitars. Personally, I have always gravitated towards Telecaster style guitars ( I just love the shape, simplicity and overall feel ) I have a few with different pickup configurations. This one is right up my, proverbial, street. Looks great, sounds amazing and doesn't break the bank. Great review, great guitar but just a quick correction. this is a 12" radius and the middle tone knob does have a push/pull function, not exactly sure what it's set up to do (series/parallel?) but I prefer to leave it down. I have several guitars, played several more and although taste can be subjective, I don't think I would trade this for any other strat out there.. aside from resale value, brand name, etc... rock solid construction, design is great, tones, playability, looks, trem design, etc... you get way more bang for the buck and it is ALWAYS in tune. 👌

I have installed that locking bridge on another guitar and was quite happy with it, they also make a roller version. I'll point out the strings are top loaded vs through body. Those wider SC pups sound good to me. G&L make some very good guitars.

@@JonIsJustTooLoud , just an update. I got the ASAT about a year ago and LOVE it. The Jumbo MFD's are incredible pups. I would describe them as closer to a Strat sound for cleans, but can get get into humbucker territory with gain. I don't play with a lot of dirt, but was kind of blown away by how well they handle gain.

Nice color! Pickups are what I expect from G&L, but the Bridge pickup seemed a bit compressed from what I was expecting. Did not seem to reach those bell like chime highs. Hard to tell over Internet.

@@JonIsJustTooLoud I am a minister in Cameroon, I was unable to bring a guitar with me. I arrived here in Yaounde January 15' 2020, with a return flight end of April. All flights were cancelled, so I have sheltered in place since. I bought a farm and after a year to build a house, so am in that process now. Little did I know I would not be able to return for my guitars. 😭 So I sold them to finance the house. Once that is finished I will return to buy 2 guitars, a line 6 Stomp, powered JBK speakers. Maybe I will get in France. I did not expect a world wide pandemic. When it hit I did not expect it to last so long,!!! Now the Delta Variant is preventing again. I am almost 67 now. Being without a 🎸 is like being in prison! 😷🙏 Patience us key now. I do my own tech work on guitars and amps, so no issues there. I can fly guitars here but very expensive. Like buying a high end Gibson! Soon though when virus is under control I will fly into Paris, bring back a Schecter and amp stuff. I am fully vaccinated now, which was not easy to get, but I managed. All I need now is a guitar, then another, and a telescope to see the stars which are not so easy to see in rainy Oregon. My home address is in Oregon Portland suburbs! I have missed all the bad fires and heat, violence, ECT. I think God is protecting me in a very fine way having hold of my right hand. 🙏

Hi, Jonathan, love the demo, great playing as always! I'm planning to buy this model, and as a beginner in buying guitars, I wonder what are some other key differences it has from a traditional telecaster. Also, do you think it can be easily repaired by technicians that usually deal with fender guitars since G&L is particularly rare where I live. It would be nice if you help out!

There is a difference.. these pickups are a bit fatter than the normal tele pickups. It all depends on what sort of repairs are needed . As for the parts, you can always order from G&L direct.

@@xunliu8696 the only repairs you'll ever need is potentially volume or tone pots.. and they are generic

@@LLSicilia Thank you for the info friend. I’m worried about the quality control. You can’t tell if a guitar would have problems easily just by trying it in a guitar store, and lots of people are not found of G&l’s quality. It seems to me, most countries outside us don’t see g&l as a good deal.

@@xunliu8696 Yeh Indonesian quality control can be an issue across all brands, not just G&L. I would still take the gamble. The early G&L tribute series were made in Korea and reknowned for their craftsmanship, so do not discount second hand if you find a reputed international seller.

I installed a TBX control in place of the tone control !! Oh, the control cavity is only deep enough for import pickup switch and that standard American switch won't fit !! Save the $1k and just buy the Tribute !! Or, buy three Tributes for price of one USA model !!! Cheers
