Battery life on this sold me. I had a gshock that I wore everyday for 9 years. Seriously considered the Fenix 6 but I hate having to worry about charging. I run every now and then and am pretty rough on my watches. This one fit me perfect.

If anyone is wondering, Dave said GBD-H1000 for a total of 41 times through this video. (Yes, I re-watched the whole thing in double speed just for this. It is still surprisingly understandable, btw.) According to my napkin math, it is a GBD-H100 every 29 seconds.
@MateHegyhati

Great vid btw. As an Instinct Solar owner, I'd have been interested in a bit more comparison between the two. It seems, that feature-wise, that wouldn't be to interesting. I'm wondering about the battery life though. My Instinct can do 33+ hours in GPS mode (on paper, never tested, but 20+ seems to be right with sensors, training window, bit of navigation, live tracking, etc.). It also charges, and have basically infinite lifetime if put into battery saver ("dumbwatch") mode. For the 12 and 34 months with the GBD-H1000, do you have to turn off HRM? I guess so.

Great review mate! I purchased this watch around 2 months ago, I’ve found it fantastic. Sometimes when changing pace quickly the HR monitor is irregular. And agreed wearing it tight is the key. The solar power is amazing, I haven’t charged it once! It’s a nice blend of Smart Watch features, fitness and durability. The best news is that I purchased it on sale in Australia for $203 US! $275Au so that’s probably where it should be.

This watch will out last all those fitness watches used to compare its size to. The thing is a tank and would still work 10 years from now while people would have replaced their fitness tracker after a year if wear. Love the in-depth review. Keep it up.

For sure, just like an old Omega will last forever. But... It won't give you all of the training data, navigation tools, etc... as something like a Garmin Fenix. Really depends what you're looking for. Different tools for different jobs.

Have this watch a couple of months now, sold my old Garmin Forerunner 645 Music to help get this one. For me it came down to the fact that I just never really loved the Garmin on my wrist. I'm a big watch man and having a G Shock to record my runs just feels a lot more me. I've never had to charge it even though I keep the charger handy for when I eventually do. I find the notifications can be iffy but again that's okay for me because I don't have it for the notifications - for me the primary thing is that it's a G Shock that can sync to Strava for me.

Another great video!! It's a strange watch. I previously loved G Shock before I got into running and moved over to Garmin. I personally love the rugged design but there are two reasons it's dead in the water: 1) Screen to size ratio is ridiculous. 2) Functionality versus just about any other fitness tracker at a similar or even lower price point. I think Casio are relying on die hard fans for collectability (like you say) rather than looking to gain market share from the big boys. The newer model is a huge step up from the GBD but has terrible battery life so will also not gain significant traction in the fitness market

The GBD-H1000 is pretty similar to something like the Garmin Instinct Solar but the Instinct still has some advantages in terms of features. First, it's got a full list of activity profiles not just "Run" like the G-Shock. It also has a more feature rich navigation system, and a few widgets that aren't available on the GBD-H1000. I also prefer the size and weight of the Garmin Instinct! Hope that helps!

I dont plan on using this watch for recieving notifications from my phone. I planned on using it for workouts and everyday wear and then connecting it to my phone at the end of the day to transfer data or transferring data at the end of a workout. how does it do in that regard or should I look at a different watch for something like this say a mudmaster or something?

Very different. This is a very simple watch with limited features. The GSW is a full blown Google Wear OS smartwatch. They both have pro's and cons.

Thats whats sold it to me - no need to charge it. Next - the usual G-Shock look, can survive pretty much everything. Casio GPS battery longevity - that's definitely a surprise here :-) lack of sports activities/features - true, no two opinions. And yes, I own one, its good enough to me, the reason I bought it - Well, it is a G-Shock, that's exactly what I headed for, and yes - as usual it looks like a tank - and then I found there are some sort of sports tracker functionalities which is great AND - I DO NOT NEED to babysitting it for charging :-) - SOLD :-D (do not understand me wrong, I am participating all the times in long ruining marathons/triathlons [10+ hours long], still its ok to me just because I do not care about my stats too much :-D) I know pretty much all the people aiming "for a REAL" sports watch will not be impressed from this casio particular model, but works for me :-)

what a beast. You could kill someone with that watch. IMO Garmin Instinct solar dominates the Casio. It's cheaper (Casio pricing - is just to much...waaaay to much), smaller, have the similar vibes when you look at it and overall better choice. You really have to be Casio fanboy to pick that up
@ChaseTheSummit
@ChaseTheSummit 3 жыл бұрын
I'll admit. I don't mind wearing the GBD-H1000 there's something to the design/use of it. But yeah, for the money it's hard to compare to something like the Garmin Instinct which can be found on sale for nearly half the cost of the G-Shock. Thanks for watching!

If you are searching for a rugged watch, Garmin Instinct is still a better option...
@ChaseTheSummit
@ChaseTheSummit 3 жыл бұрын
I suppose it depends what you're looking for. The GBD-H1000 has an advantage in terms of build quality, water resistance, and smartwatch battery life. The Instinct has advantaged in terms of sport profiles, external sensors, navigation tools, and of course the excellent Garmin ecosystem.

Its a G-SHOCK Smart Watch - thats what watches are supposed to look. Like the beefy look and the classic styling of the G-Shock brand. At $399 I am sold because I am rugged and clumsy and every other watch I have worn has either broken or cracked. I trust the G-Shock brand as I have owned a couple and have used them for Years without any issues. Sold!
