This is an amazing watch. I've been using mine for the past year even more so over the past five months since I was made redundant. I've dragged it on walks everywhere, its a really great companion on a 10 mile walk I do. I do not use this watch with a phone, I've manually input way points directly using the watch so I can easy back track and get to specific locations. Its a beast, love it.

That warning is also present on my GBD-H1000. After weeks of research, I found a Chinese forum where a user explains the reason behind the warning. Rechargeable Lithium batteries typically have a power management circuit embedded in the battery to regulate charge cycles. Casio’s rechargeable batteries do NOT have this circuit and instead rely on the power management system in the motherboard. Several pictures of a disassembled GBD-H1000 confirm this. So, if the battery goes below a minimum charging level, the watch will not be able to power up again, let alone charge. Replacing the battery won’t help either because power for the watch is controlled by the motherboard, which is now virtually dead. Take care of your watch and make sure to always keep a little bit of juice in it.

This is good with the buttons they've done , you know why? For example if you are doing push ups , guess what buttons will be pressed by the wrist. You can use GPS 3-5 hrs a day without any problems, if the weather is sunny this watch will charge from 3 bars to 4 for 30min-1 hours I did experiment with mine Yesterday . It jumped from 3 to 4 bars even when i was using gps . In sunny days no problem you can be able to use it even longer than 5hrs. It looks like Casio put very powerful solar inside Actually it does not have any negatives .
@maverickwatchreviews3 жыл бұрын
It's actually still way too big for practical use but to each his own.
@alphagor5 жыл бұрын
For the charging notice, that is simply the characteristics of the lythium batteries. If it's over-discharged (for quite a lot of times, a few over-discharge won't hurt), it can loose battery life and even die eventually. If your battery dies and you cannot charge it, take it to an authorized retailer/repair and they will replace it.

I would think GPS would be way more accurate than the app unless the crystal is so unstable that it's way off between GPS receive. GPS time is after all accepted for stratum 1 time servers. How accurate is the time the app synchronizes? Does it take transmission delay into consideration? Anyways, cool watch!

I dont ubderstand why you want it to be solar only? It can work as normal with just solar, even som gps points. But i can also be charged up quickly if you need continual gps over time. To more ways to charge the better, with solar beeing the main solution.
@jonjackson8811 Жыл бұрын
He means if it's just solar you know for a fact you don't need any other method of charging, which means they brought the energy requirements down and the efficiency up. You wouldn't add an additional USB charging method to the old Rangeman or any other watch where it wouldn't be absolutely necessary.

Great watch & very good review. I own both this Rangeman & the original Rangeman. I also bought the Frogman, which I mention for a reason. The major criticism I have against the original Rangeman is that it's not made in Japan. The Frogman and the New Rangeman are both made in Japan, and both have a much better build quality, with the Frogman being the toughest watch I'll ever own. One thing that Casio should have done with the new Rangeman is pack a small hard plastic case for the wireless charger, as I would hate to damage it if I have to bring it with me, like when I go on vacation. The other thing is the solar charging needs to work faster to charge the entire watch, particularly when GPS has been used. If the old Rangeman was made in Japan, the stores that sell them wouldn't be able to keep them in stock. I don't abuse my G-Shocks at all, but I have had 2 old Rangeman which have given me problems.

I saw a thermometer listed in the details but didn’t see it in the list on the watch when scrolling. I was interested to see if it’s actually accurate. I’ve had watch’s in the past that need to be taken off and basically untouched for 10 mins before it’ll give an accurate outside temp and not being influenced by it touching the wrist. Also, a possibility that if it runs completely out of charge it’s just junk?? I had two g-shocks lasted me 6 yrs. one is still alive. This seems useless. Anytime you can’t spend a week or two in the woods without having to worry about recharging then that’s a problem. Ya I know it’s solar charging but I see issues happening regardless. 1.4 yrs just at “rest” down to 20 hrs continual gps use?? Nope. I guess you could make it work but I’d expect more reliably for $800. A cheap gps and an older g shock would save you a lot of money and gain more piece of mind I guess. Actually pretty disappointing. I almost ordered one. Just my opinion nobody asked for.

@JPMonstie4 жыл бұрын
Christian Hunt An hour of GPS can be sustain with just the solar charging. Otherwise, the watch can go forever on solar. The watch is available for about $1000Au, nowhere $1400 unless you’re getting ripped off. The 1.4 years of reserve is if there’s no solar input. Toughest GPS watch that can work solely on solar, so in fact, a big winner for anyone who uses GPS in the wilderness.
