First cuts with my new Iscar HELI-GRIP (1616-3T12 holder, 3003Y Insert). I've been wanting to try one of these out for a while now. Cutting 5/8" diameter 12L14 steel at 1000rpm, .006" IPR, .020" radial depth of cut. I'm intentionally sticking to the bottom end of the spectrum, but can make another video pushing it harder if people are interested.

Hey Rus. I missed this video upload of yours. Stupid me didn't have the bell turned on. You're CNC lathe conversion is kicking "A" mate. Totally love it. Cheers, Aaron

It's nice when the lathe works independently, it should be so.

Yeah, even better if it's reliable.

Well, I guess you can't argue with results, but this is KZbin....I wouldn't have thought to do normal turning with a grooving/parting tool. There is no relief cut on the insert for normal turning.

Thanks! It's intended use is grooving and turning. www.iscar.com/Products.aspx/CountryID/1/ProductId/18

Very nice. Did you find a good set of feeds and speeds? Best Matt

I'm just using the data on the back of the inserts box.

Where did you order the holder and insert from? I have been looking at the Heli-Grip and Cut-Grip for my lathe.
@russtuff5 жыл бұрын
All on ebay. The seller for the holder wanted $40 but I offered $30 and he accepted. The inserts were 5 remaining in the box for $60.

I haven't used TANG, but HELI is marketed for turning and shallow grooving, which is what I wanted. TANG appears to be for deep grooving and parting. It's next on my list because I hate my parting tools.

I haven't tried Nickole but I remember you getting some. I have some ThinBIT that I like for tiny grooves, but I almost never use them.

What is this insert used for ? Iv haven’t come across this style before.

You can find Iscar videos on youtube, but it's basically used for turning, profiling, and shallow grooving.
