@@mechakouhai I like the 3rd season myself. Once you finish season 3, there is a sort of branching thing happening: In the US, we only had 1 more season, consisting of 3 episodes and it SCREAMED "toy commercial". And the story was so-so. In Japan, we got a few more series.... ..in 1987, they made "Headmasters", in 1988, they then made "Master Force", in 1989, they made "Victory" and in 1990, they made a single episode for the series, "Zone", which went on as a manga. The Japanese series handled the various gimmicks/features into their stories far better than the 3 episode 4th season the US had.

G1 has a lot of animation errors due to the DVD copying process iirc, the actual broadcast versions didn't have that many Canonically, they're because of the Unicron singularity in the Unicron trilogy I'm happy you enjoy the show though!!! I love when people get into it (also season 2 intro best intro fight me)

Probably one of the more jarring aspects of season 2 is all the new characters that get introduced with little to no explanation of where they came from. We can easily chalk this all up to Hasbro wanting to sell more toys.

@@mechakouhai Have you seen, or going to see, the Gobots series from the 80's? It is not the terrible thing some of the hard core critics say it is. For example, I think Gobots's pilot was far better than the G1 Transformers pilot.

Season 2 is when Toei really started subcontracting. Season 1 was mostly in house, Kaname Pro, Daewon, Studio No. 1 or Ashi Productions, but production ramped up so much in S2 that they went for some real C-tier studios in Japan/Korea. Toei's episodes on S3 are generally the best.
